After Freddie slammed his office door on me, I wait about five minutes before I gain the courage to march in there and figure out what is going on with him. I also want to let him know that I've finished my given tasks, and that if he wanted me to, I could go home.

"Mr. Highmore?" I knock three times quick. "Mr. Highmore, I need --"

"Come in, Amanda!" He calls from the other side of the door. I turn the knob on the door and slowly make my entrance.

Lying on his leather love seat, dress shirt untucked, sleeves rolled up to the elbow, Freddie looks at me; his arm hovering over his face slightly.

"What is it that you need from me?" He asks, his voice a bit raspy. He looks torn. And even in this sprawled out mess he was in, he still looked beautiful.

"I wanted to let you know that I've called everyone on your list," I reply.

"You are free to go, Ms. Helgard." He states simply. He keeps his head down as digs into the pocket of his jeans and takes out a wad of cash. "Here," he says, not looking at me. "Take it. That's your pay for today's work."

I walk over to him and take the money. As I grab it, our fingertips brushed against each other and that spark ignited within me once again. Seeing him lying there distressed made me want to nurture him in care. I wanted to kiss his lips, those perfect lips that I would hope taste like cigarettes, and run my hands through his hair; make sure he felt secure and cared for, tended to. Needed.

"Th-thank you," I stammer. "I appreciate it."

Freddie shrugs. "If you didn't take it, I'd just waste it on a prostitute for the evening, maybe a drink." he shifts into a more comfortable position. "Whatever it takes to ease the pain..."

I bring up a chair from the conference table and slide it over to him. "Are you okay, Mr. Highmore?"

Freddie tightens his lip. "I am fine, Amanda." he says lowly. "Don't worry." He starts to close his eyes. "I think you should go."

I nod quietly. "Okay," I reply. "I will see you tomorrow, then." I then stand to my feet and make my way towards the door.

"Wait." Freddie drawls out.

I stop dead in my tracks, and turn. "Yes, sir?"

He puts his hand out. "Give me yer phone." he states.

"Why?" I ask, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

"How are ye going to do yer job without communicating with me?" He asks. "I'll be dammed if ye come at me office ringing that bell."

I chuckle, then hand him my phone.

He types in his number and then hands it back to me. "You may go now," he says. "I will text ye if I need anything."

I nod. "Okay."

And with that, I go for the door but not without peeking a glance at the handsome man sprawled out on his loveseat.

He was such a beautiful man. Why would anyone want to hurt him?

By midnight, I've managed to make it home. Thankfully, the rain stopped and I came back in one piece.

"Hey!" My roommate and best friend, Jade greets, wearing her Star Wars pyjamas. "How did the interview go?"

"It went well," I nod. "He had me working a few hours." I go into the kitchen and grab the milk out of the fridge to pour myself a glass.

"I would work for that man any day," she says eagerly. "I just want to take a ride on his --"

"-- TMI!" I cut her off. "I don't need to know about your fantasies." I chuckle. "It's bad enough that I have to hear you and Eric in your room going at it. Y'all are loud!"

Jade tilts her head back and laughs. "It's not my fault he's got an impressive length," she bites her lip. "you should try having sex sometime, it wouldn't kill you to live a little."

I tilt my head back and finish my drink. "Thank you for your suggestion, but I've got more important things to do than to just daydream about getting laid."

Jade just laughs as I then walk into my room and shut the door behind me.

Due to my abrupt interview with Freddie, I didn't have time to study for my midterm. So here I am, at 2:25 a.m, cramming all the necessary tools into my brain.

As I am highlighting a key point in my notes that I'd forgotten to do, my  phone vibrates on my desk. I look down and swipe to the side to see I had recieved a text from an unknown number.

I need you.
