((Alice's POV))

I grab my things (well, my things I stole from dad) and make my way to the door that Max told me was the enterance. Because I wasn't really awake when I first arived, I aparently got put onto some pully platform thing, but not this time. This time, it's for real.

"Whoa..." Looking down the ladder, I start to wonder if anyone has fallen to their death here... most likely. No time to to be a wuss, let's do this. I make sure no one is looking, then start to climb down the ladder.

When I (finally) get to the bottom, I'm greated by Indy. Brilliant. I don't trust him, maybe I'm just being judgemental, but his eyes look the same color as the person that attacked me back home.

"Is Max with you? I don't want to be alone with you, I wouldn't put it past you to stab me in the back." He states. Ouch. Can't say I wasn't thinking the same thing, though. I take several steps back from him, but keep my hand on my knife. Just in case.

"No, he's not. I hope he's not in trouble for-" I'm inturupted by a sliding sound in the ladder tree thing, and then Max stumbles out, a stupid grin on his face.

"I just slid down, like, like you see in the superhero stuff, when someone is making a getaway through an air vent! I wanna go again!" Indy rolls his eyes.

"Shut up. Please. Do you have this oh so scary book of yours?" Max nods and takes the book out from behind his back.

"Tucked it in my belt when I went down. I have a feeling falling wouldn't hurt this thing, though- HEY!" Indy snatches the book from Max and scans the cover.

"Where did you get this?! That's runic!" Max's face turns red.

"Doesn't matter where I got it! Look, I just have it, okay? I haven't even opened it!" Indy tosses it back to Max, who then holds it close like some priceless heirloom.

"What's wrong with ruinic? I've read a lot of stories where people write in runic and such, what's the big deal?" I ask. Indy glares at Max.

"What's your name? Max is to simple for your people, tell the truth, or I'll shoot you in the head!" He growls. Max looks freaked out.

"Chill out you two! Mostly you, Indy. We can kill each other later, for now, let's focus on getting to a new place where we can set up camp and make an actual plan. Max... Don't open that book unless you want to get shot." Max nods, looking freaked out. Indy crosses his arms and glares at Max. Geez, if looks could kill... Actually, if looks could kill I think Indy would have a lot of blood on his hands.

"Fine. I know a path, follow me." Indy mutters.

"Good, because I sure wouldn't feel safe with you following us." I state. Max walks behind me, I don't blame him, though. Indy pretty much just said he's gonna kill him.

((TIme Skip Because Walking Through The Woods Is Boring))

"We can set up camp here. There are apple trees over there if you want anything to eat. I'll start a fire." Indy says. He watches Max walk over to a tree, then jump up and climb into it.

"A fire? What about the smoke?" I ask. Indy gives me one of his favorite are-you-stupid looks.

"If the fuel is dry and not leafs, we should be fine." He mutters. I nod, I think I read something about that once...

"Why don't you trust Max? This may sound crazy, but I think you kinda shattered him with your sudden hate for him. He didn't say anything on the way here, and if I've learned anything over the past few days, it's that he doesn't shut up." Indy stops what he's doing and tilts his head at me.

"What do you mean... shattered him? If I'm right about what he is-"

"What or who he is doesn't matter! He's just a kid, like you and me. He had to run while his parents fought, and maybe died, for him. Whatever you think he is doesn't matter, he's still a kid. He's still scared. He still seemed to admire you in his own annoying way, and you hurt him. His humor, it's all an act. I know, I've seen him with his guard down. You need to learn to look before you strike, Indy, or you'll end up in a war with no allies." He looks slightly stunned. Then, he sighs and goes back to what he's doing.

"Hey, I got apples! Want one?" Max sits down next to me (and away from Indy) and puts a small gathering of apples next to the fire. I shrug and take one.

"Hey Max... Uh... I'm sorry." Indy mutters. He says it like he's trying to learn a new language and isn't quite sure he's got it right. Max looks suprised, then smiles and offers Indy and apple.

"It's... well, it's not okay, just promise you won't shoot me and I'll be fine." Max says. Indy nods and takes the apple.

"I will... if you tell us what's really going on with you." Indy says. Max hesitates, then shrugs.

"I guess it's a fair trade." I clear my throat.

"Sorry for inturupting the bromance here, but the fire isn't starting and it's almost dark, so can we focus on that, then tell all our dark scary secrets?" Indy rolls his eyes and goes back to trying to start the fire.
