((Alice's POV))

When I wake up, Max and Indy are already up. I wonder if Max stayed up all night again or if Indy took over. The Book Seto did say Max isn't human, but I can't see him as anything less...

"Hey! What are you two up to?" They both turn around to look at me, and I could swear Max's face turned a bit pink. I will question him on that later.

"Nothing. I was asking if Max could show us our parents and guardians through the book, but it is to advanced for him." Indy states. Max nods.

"Tracking down living things is hard. Objects, not problem. Places, even easier! People though..." He shrugs and stands up, along with Indy. There is a perfect triangle of dust on the edge of Indy's bandana, like it had been folded an set on the ground... Another thing to question Max on.

"Well, let's get going! This hill alone is going to take a while to reach the bottom. If we keep walking though, we should reach our destination by midday." Indy say. Max nods and reaches behind him, untucking the book from his belt and looking at it.

"What's up, Max?" I ask. He smiles and shakes his head, tucking the book away again.

"Nothing. You think the castle has showers?" Indy snorts and I laugh.

"I hope so. Sleeping in the dirt for two nights, I think we could all use a shower. And food that is not involving fruit, I'm starved! Sooner we get there, the better." Indy gives a stiff nod, and Max nods more normally.

"Yep! So shut up and let's get moving!" He starts walking down the hill, careful not to walk on the more steep parts. As we go, we talk about our plan, something we really need.

"So how about we look for whoever's in charge there, and maybe that Ethan guy I saw at my place, and tell them to help us raise an army and save our parents?" Max asks. Indy tilts his head at him.

"I doubt it would be that simple. There would be guards, right? They might not let m- us in the castle." I caught that. Only someone with major hearing problems wouldn't have.

"Indy, why wouldn't the guards like you?" I ask. He and Max both stop and turn around. To my surprise, Max speaks up.

"Indy has a past, as do you and I. His past is less favorable, and he does not want to talk about it. Leave him alone." Indy looks like he's not sure to be thankful or threatened, and for once, I have something in common with him.

"What the Neather are you on?" I ask. Max rolls his eyes and turns back around, going on down the hill. Indy turns around and continues on with him, and I notice him tighten the bandana around his face moments later.

"I still don't trust you." I mutter to no one in particular, then continue on myself.

"Want to play truth or dare?" I ask after a horribly long silence. Indy shrugs, and Max does the same. What is up with those two?

"I'll go first, Alice, truth or dare?" Max asks. I think for a second.

        "Uh... truth." Max sighs.

"You're no fun, I was gonna have you walk ten steps back up the hill! Alright then, um, do you have and phobias?" Oh, right.

"I don't know if it's really a phobia, but I hate spiders. Dad does, too, and we make mom get rid of them whenever they get in the house. Big spiders I don't mind, but the little ones that make webs on the ceiling... ugh." Max nods, not looking very surprised.

"Well then, Max, truth or dare?" Indy seems to be spacing out, and I don't trust him to tell the truth in the game anyways.

        "Dare." Surprise surprise.

"Uh, I dare you to... of there's such thing, I dare you to use magic to tunr part of your clothes hot pink for an hour." He raises an eyebrow, but in more of an That's it? way than a Really? Come on! way. He taps his belt, and I watch as the leather slowly turns a bright pink.

"Fancy. What did you do?" He smiles.

"Indy! Go for it." Indy stops walking, but I'm fine with that because he's a bit ahead of us.

"Um... Alice. Truth, or dare?" His tone is cool, as it normally is with me, and I feel like he's daring me to pick dare. Huh, ironic. Well, I'm not scared of him, it's just a game.

"Dare. Hit me with your best shot." He points to a tree just off the path.

"I dare you to walk up to the tree, touch the trunk, and come back. You can run back if you want to." Max looks as confused with Indy's request as I feel, but I shrug and step off the path to the tree. I glance back once I'm closer to the tree, and see Indy telling Max something. Suddenly, my hyper friend seems very amused. Damn, what did Indy pull?!

I turn back around to find I'm right at the tree. Not only that, but face to face with a web with the biggest small spider I've ever seen looking back a me.

"Gah!" I try to turn around and run backwards at the same time, and end up making it about five feet before I trip and land in the grass. I get back up and sprint for the path. It takes me no time at all the rejoin my laughing companions. Yeah, Indy is laughing, just quietly.

"Jerk." I mutter. Max shrugs and the two boys start walking again. Max is playing with Indy now, but I stop for a second, as something red has caught my attention.

I walk over to it, to find that it's the remains of an apple, dusty, rolled down the hill maybe? But that's not what bothers me. It looks like it was attacked by a fork or something else sharp. Not a fork, sharp teeth. Like the soldier's teeth back at home.

"Alice! You coming or what?" Max calls. I nod, and kick the apple as far away from me as possible. Indy and I are going to have words.
