"What else do we need?" Jihyo muttered to herself as she once again checked her list, Vulcan had helped them with the ingredients for her spell.
"It is the third time" Posh said to no one in particular but didn't dare stop Jihyo.
Forth just smiled, as he pats once on Posh back. "All set" Max announced as he walked in Tul, "I should say this is a nice place but doesn't compare to winter court"
"Thanks?" Phana said, unsure if it was a compliment or not, earning a soft chuckle from Beam.
"It is a grand place Phana, but I would rather live at our place in the city. Aspen is not for us" Beam circled his arms around Phana's shoulder.
"Stop knocking off your own palace, my Queen" Posh winked at Beam who looked at him unamused.
"Am all set" Jihyo finally announced making Jisoo roll her eyes, but she ignored and continued with her question "how do we go to the throne room"
Phana looked at everyone, they all had their weapons and only Jihyo had a backpack that was filled with her stuffs for the spell.
Forth offered to carry the bag, but she was more comfortable having the spell book and bag with her, so he had not pushed.
"Let's go" Phana said, "I feel like I know the way". He walked in the front with Ming and Forth following him first.
They must have walked for half an hour before they ended up in front of small door.
"Not much of an entrance" Posh said as he looked around "I expected better"
Tul laughed at the younger's comment, "He is like Max". Irin just rolled her eyes
Phana took a deep breath, ignored the chatter behind him and opened the door. He was welcomed by a huge room, with marble floor and pillars. Gold carvings decorated the windows and ceilings, allowing ample natural light to flow in.
"I take back my words" Posh said as he entered "this is... amazing", he looked up and turned in place observing all the beautiful paintings and artwork that decorated the room.
Phana's gaze was fixed on the two simple gold chairs that were placed on podium in the far corner of the room, directly opposite to the huge doors.
"Looks like we came in through a servant's entrance" Tul said, following Phana's eyes "you can sense the power rolling from it"
"Now what?" Irin asked looking around
"Now we wait for Vulcan to guide us to old castle" Kit replied "he said when the moon is at full power and that gives us another say an hour"
"Hmmm" Beam walked closer to Phana, who became silent ever since he entered the room. His eyes fixed on a painting behind the throne.
Phana just sat down on the cold floor, pulling Beam in closer. He was looking at his parent's picture for first time, and he just could not take his eyes off them.
"You look exactly like him" Beam said softly "and she is.... Wow, such kind eyes"
Rest of the pack grouped at the back giving them space.
Phana just shook himself, and looked once at Ming before giving him a small smile "I am okay... I have you all around me"
"it just took me by surprise" Phana said to Irin, who was observing his every move "I am really Okay"
"Hmmm" Kit agreed, "they seem like really good people"
"They were the best" Tul said from the back "they respected and loved every creature, a very rare quality if you ask me"
"One I see in the Guardian and You" Max said, looking at Phana.
"Vulcan's voice interrupted their conversation "Your Highness, follow me first with the Key"
"He is not going alone" Ming and Beam said at the same time
"I think he only meant Phana to have the key ready" Kit said softly, "not just for him to follow"
They heard a soft chuckle "as always only you get me right", but then his tone changed all serious "now remember, once you are out of Aspen I wont be able to protect you and I can sense her minions waiting for your arrival"
Ming nodded, "Let's phase"
"No" Vulcan said "you need to be in your vulnerable form to pass through"
"Move the portrait" Vulan explained, "Key will open the portal, she has taken the high grounds and you have 4 days and 3 nights"
"for....?" Ming raised his eyebrows
"until the final night of eclipse" Vulcan's voice echoed "I bid you farewell and good luck"
"Wait" Max called, but then they all felt Vulan's presence leave him, as he finished his question "Which way are we supposed to go?"
"Let's open the portal" Kit said looking at Ming and Phana, he then turned to the rest "stay back and don't follow until we tell you?"
Jisoo nodded as she dragged Irin and Posh back, while Max, Tul and Forth stood in between them and Phana
"they did mean it literally when they said royal's stood guarding our world" Beam observed as he walked towards his mate to push open the heavy painting, with a small smile on his face
"You get back" Phana said, "stay back and concentrate on protecting the baby"
"We fail, there is no use concentrating to protect the baby" Beam said, "so let's do our job and try our best to protect all"
"Don't argue" Ming said "we are wasting time"
They silently started moving the picture, which weighed a lot more that what they had assumed "made of bronze, silver and peepal" Ming said "all that stops evil"
What welcomed them behind the portal was a small single entrance which would allow only one human to walk through, it makes sense what he said by vulnerable form Kit thought to himself don't think some of us can even walk in straight
The pendant on Phana's neck started glowing purple and so did the entrance, making the entrance look like it was closed by a purple mist door.
Phana walked towards it first with the pendant in his hands, to examine the cloudy door and on closer look he found a small carving where his pendant would perfectly fit.
He placed it in that opening and stepped back waiting for something, anything but there was absolutely no change.
"Your blood" Kit said, "Only Royal's blood will open"
"Hmmm" Phana poked his index finger with his nail and placed a drop of blood on the pendant and instantly it melted into the carving and the purple mist started dissipating.
"Here goes nothing" Phana took a deep breath and stepped in through the door, closely followed by Ming and before Kit could follow Max stepped behind Ming, "White wolf will be their target first If am right, let me use my abilities"
Kit nodded, while Beam cast a worried look over Kit who only shrugged mind-linking do you really think the order matters now, we are all sitting ducks anyways
"Nice way to motivate people, asshole" Jihyo said having heard Kit's comment
"well, it's true" Kit said simply while he felt Nila take a snap at him once a cynical moron, always a cynical moron but her tone was light.
"Move" Forth snapped "have your weapons drawn out, be prepared for an ambush"
