I go to the kitchen. There are 4 cooks there. I check the must have list for smoothies. I hand over 4 bananas and 16 squares of chocolate to a cook with wavy red hair. She gives me a look, and she didn't seem to believe that I have so many. I have been saving for almost a week.
"Two smoothies please, one for a friend, one for me. We have been saving for almost a week!" I say. She smiled, understandingly, then made a face like she just recognized me.I didn't lie, Coral and I really have been saving for 5 days, that's almost a week. She puts two bananas and four chocolate squares into the blender. Then she puts a large scoop of unflavored frozen cream and adds a little milk. She turns on the blender. WHIR, WHIR, WHIR! And then it's done. She pours it into a cup. The glass in the blender has been modified to make sure it doesn't stick to the sides. It looks thicker and creamier than normal. Then she puts a strange lid on the cup and hooks it to a machine. She presses start and the machine shakes the cup violently. Then she does the same with the rest of the bananas and chocolate squares. She uses an identical machine.
"I hope you don't mind, these aren't smoothies, they're milkshakes. Milkshakes are even better." she says, "Milkshakes take more credits, but you earned it." she smiles.
"How did I earn it?" I asked confused.
"I can just tell that there have been many people you helped. You probably don't remember me, you got so many people out of the block. I was the person you told first. I was in the group of people that day in class." she says, "Do you remember me Kari?" She asks.
"Mia?" I ask cautiously. Her face lights up.
"You really do remember me!" She exclaimed. Other cooks were giving her a look.
"Wow, you look so different! You cut your hair and dyed it. Not to mention, you are WAY taller then me now! Did you get even more freckles?" I blurt. Now cooks are getting a bit angry at us. They must not be morning birds.
"Mia, get back to work! We have to feed an entire boat full of hungry people! Hurry, your scrambled eggs are burning!" A cook snapped. She turns a deep red and returns to the milkshakes. She sprays white stuff out of a can labeled 'whip cream'. It looked like, could it be? FROSTING? Then, as if to confirm my hypothesis, she sprinkled chocolate sprinkles over it.
"Hey, watch out. It's crock pot night!" she warned me in a hushed voice. I return to the hallway. I walk across the deck, down a hall, to Corals cabin. As I head that way, I hear shouting. It's coming from Corals room. I walk in and a girl with blond, almost white hair is lying on the floor,her eyes are wide. A red faced girl is glaring down at her, and all around the girl with white-blond hair is a dark red pool of liquid.
