"It's not much farther," Coral states for what must be the thousandth time, but this time she's right. Even in the dark light of the setting sun, the sand is turning grey, mixed with the once white sand is ash. We really aren't much farther from the burnt village.

The ash gets thicker until everything is covered. The ground is a fine powder, the trees black as night. We begin to light our lamps, and turn on our flashlights.

We can see in the dim light well enough, and as we walk nervously through the rubble and remains of a stone courtyard, we are all searching. We go through a market and we walk through residential areas. We climb a fence, and find ourselves in a rich neighborhood that has still signs of beautiful architecture and there is a fountain of dirty water with floating orange specks of algae. We all are looking for the same thing. Answers. Answers to questions. Questions like;

What is this place?

How is the boy alive?

How is he so young and alive?
