Abby was honestly tired of this. Sitting at the almost never cleaned table every morning got tiring. As well as the emotional push and pull ripping her heart into two. Of course she loved Jordan, why wouldn't she? She has loved him for 3 years. His humor, looks, personality, the whole package was perfect enough for her. But recently someone has caught her eye. She only noticed it since they hugged. Her heart thumped against her chest as she was able to hear even the other's heart. As they parted she felt her heart thump harder as they locked eyes. She looked deeply into those beautiful, blue eyes. There was only one problem though.

"I'm not gay." Abby rolled her eyes at Aiden, making another gay joke about her. This however, was confusing to her. By then everyone had moved on, but Abby was still hung on that. Was she gay? She never really thought of it. She did love Madi before, but she thought she didn't love women anymore. But, even as she thought of being straight, she popped up in her head. Of course, she was Sara. Abby could never admit it, but she longed to being Sara's arms, of being able to call her mine, of doing adorable couple things, to just be with her.

"Where's Jared?" Abby looked up to see the Sara. She was joyful until she realized that Sara was looking for her stupid boyfriend, Jared.

"Probably with his other friends, or something." She said trying not to seem sour but one look on Jaz's and Dan's face told otherwise. They both had seemed very suspicious of this strange jealous behavior. Abby then proceeded to ignore the rest of the talk at the table before Dan slid next to her, passing her a note.

'What's wrong, clown?' The note read with Dan talking casually to the others.

'Nothing.' I scribbled quickly on the paper. Dan glanced down and sighed.

'yea right, gay.' Dan wrote back, chuckling at a joke Aiden told.

'I'll tell you in yearbook.' Abby wrote back sliding Dan the paper, a signal to quit talking about it. Of course, Abby first had to deal with the rest of the day.

As she walked to Ms. Lanham's room, she saw the doors were closed and there was a note on it. ''All Yearbook students go to the gym.' Oh great. Slumping down the hallway, she turned to her right and saw her friends in the stands. She grins and sits next to them. Then all of a sudden, Ms. Witt was pushing everyone behind the curtain on the stage. Abby and her friends of course walked over, joining the others. All the kids there were frightened. The fear and anxiety was increasing being that curtain as they heard all the doors lock. Everything seemed silent. All the kids were holding their breath. Terrified.

"BANG. BANG BANG," rang out into the halls. Every gun shot rang out as everyone slowly reacted. Some cried. Some stayed silent. Some were shaking. Madi was clutching Abby as Jaz was comforted by Dan. Aiden was just staring, terrified. As another bang rang our, we realized something horrifying.

The gunshots were right behind us.

In the cafeteria.

With all the sixth graders.

Ms. Witt silently pointed to the door. The door to the outside. If we make it, we'll be okay. We'll be safe for a while. We all walked over to the door as quietly as we could. With the screaming, crying and laughter coming just behind us, it was almost impossible. Almost. Just as we got in, we heard the gym door slam open.

"RUN." Dan screamed out, bolting for the door. With all of us trailing behind him, gunshots rang out.

 Louder.

Louder

LOUDER.

LOUDER

Then, Abby heard one hit someone right next to her, she was so close to the door. She could have just bolted and would have left with at least a shred of sanity. But she didn't. She looked over her shoulder to see. Two bodies were laying on the ground, she wasn't able to see their faces. However, she did see one. Laying on her side, Sara looked up at Abby. The life slowly edging out of her, her soul slowly getting sucked out of her. Sara tried to mumble words. Looking up at Abby one last time, she managed to whisper out, "Run."
