Sighing, Jaz pushed the doors open to her school building and braced herself for the shoves. arms hit her, some covered with tattoos. Others had marks on them, big red blotches Some had them on their faces, tattoos, red blotches, or nothing at all. Jaz had some of the tattoos on her shoulders and back, grateful she could hide them easier. Finally making her way to the cafeteria, she could see more diversity in the tattoos and red blotches. On of the other students had a huge one on their neck.
Nobody was ever one-hundred percent sure how the tattoos worked, but they knew a few things. When you fall in love romantically with someone, anything that reminds the person of their love, they will have a tattoo placed where that person first touched them at.
Once at the table, she saw her friends smiling and automatically smiled back. Surprisingly, not a lot of them had a huge amount of tattoos showing. Dan had a bunch on his hands, but that was all he showed them. Madi and Abby had them more spread out, they even had one that matched. Nothing rare, but that didn't mean they liked each other, just that they liked the same person and think about them the same way. Aiden had some on his arms, others not showing either by choice or there were none.
They all were peacefully talking before a topic was brought up.
"How do the tattoos get on our skin?" Abby brought up, probably already watched several conspiracy videos about it. She knew it wasn't just her school, celebrities, adults, teachers, almost everyone had a tattoo or a few.
The people who had burned them off, didn't count. They had gone through a decent amount of pain to take those off, yet they had decided to take that chance.
"Maybe the ink is in our bloodstream? I don't know." Madi shrugged as they all stood up and walked to their lockers. Aiden dispersed since his locker was across the school, so they waved him a farewell.
"Wouldn't we die because of that?" Dan asked as he twisted the combination lock to the numbers. Eventually, he opened the locker only for a role of strange paper to fall out.
"Why do you have wax paper?" Jaz asked hesitantly. They all knew why, they just refused to believe he would do it as well.
"They won't come off any other way. Not lemon juice, not those stupid creams, not any ointment, not honey, fucking nothing!" Dan's voice started to rise as his breathing quickened along with it. "Burning them is the only fucking way."
"What's going on here?" One of the staff, possibly the librarian asked. Looking at the four peers, one shoving an inhaler in their mouth, they narrowed their eyes before looking at us to explain.
"Nothing, just joking." Abby kicked the wax paper behind them, begging that the staff member didn't see.
They glared at the four before they left.
They all looked at one another before Dan sighed and slammed shut his locker door.
"I've tried everything. They just reappear over night. I hate my hands." He whispered as he began walking off, being faster than the other three.
Someone, or something, had suddenly giggled behind them. A soft giggle, making them long to turn and look for the source of it. So, they quickly turned around to see the person making the giggle.
She seemed as if she was in the middle of fading away, a small calming hue of baby blue radiated around her. Yet, her face was covered with what looked like a veil. Her dress was long and white, similar to a wedding dress. A calm sweet melody had been playing from what seems was her dress.
