Austin's P.O.V
The bell rang signifying it was time for class. I came to school on my own today as Alex avoided my calls and texts. I found Zach and Robert but Alex was no where to be found.
"Where is Alex?" I asked as we walked to class.
They both exchanged a glance before Robert spoke up. "He had to stay at home today... To catch up on some homework."
I could tell they were lying. They were terrible at covering things up. Sighing, I entered the classroom. If they weren't going to tell me I would have to ask Callin. I scanned the class and found her desk and the back empty. She could just be late but I had a feeling she wasn't in either. As I took my seat, Ian made his way over to me and took the seat next to mine.
"I see she couldn't show her face." Ian snorted.
"Ian, don't..." Robert shook his head slowly.
Why were they being so overprotective over Callin? She had gotten herself drunk at the party and embarrassed my girlfriend in front of the whole year. Why was everyone defending her when Kim was the victim? Speaking of Kim, she had been too embarrassed to speak to me since the party. I had to admit that she shouldn't have had stuff done, but it was all in the past.
Just as the teacher started taking the register, the door opened and Kim entered the room. She wore her cheer uniform and refused eye contact with me as she made her way to her desk. I had to get her to speak to me as the whole situation was pathetic. Throughout class, my eyes were lingering on Callin's empty chair, then Kim. I hated how much they hated each other. It was hard trying to be friends with someone who my girlfriend keeps on distancing me away from, and the thing that made the situation worse was that Callin was related to my best friend so I couldn't be mean to her.
As soon as the bell rang, Kim was straight out of her seat and was moving quickly out of the classroom. Grabbing my bag, I went after her. I pulled her back towards me gently as we got out of the classroom into the corridor. I was shocked to see a scratch mark across her cheek. Rage filled me.
"Who did this to you?" I snapped.
She didn't reply, she just looked up at me with tears in her blue eyes. She tried to say something but she shook her head and dropped eye contact. It took me a moment to put two and two together and realise what had happened.
"Wait, you don't even have to answer... I know who did this to you!" I shouted.
I couldn't take it anymore, this had to end now. I didn't care if she was my best friends cousin, I was going to go over to Alex's house and stop this once and for all. I let go of Kim and stormed down the corridor, dispite Kim's pleas for me to come back. I was already out of the school and heading towards my car. As I drove, I tried to ease my mind by putting on the radio, but my mind was full of thoughts about what I was going to say to Callin. Soon enough, I pulled up on Alex's driveway and walked to the doorway. Knocking on the door, my palms began to sweat.
After a while Alex opened the door with bags under his eyes. His was all over the place. I softened slightly, feeling sorry for him, but I then remembered why I was here.
"Austin what are you doing here?" Alex said, yawning.
"I want to know why your bitch of a cousin attacked my girlfriend! She came into school with a scratch mark down her face!" The words came out before I could think about what to say.
Alex began to laugh. "I can't believe she had the cheek to say that Callin hit her."
"Are you saying my girl is lying?" I said, my fists clenching.
