Austin's P.O.V

They had avoided me for three weeks now, refusing to give me eye contact when I passed them in the hallways. I sat on the other side of the canteen at lunch, just so they didn't have to sit with me. It hurt to see my best friend not being able to even look at me over a girl. I just didn't believe that Hannah could be capable of being so mean, she seemed so sweet and innocent. But I didn't really think Hannah was worth losing all my friends over.

"Hey Austy!" Hannah said before placing a kiss of my cheek.

"Hi." I simply replied.

She followed my gaze over to where Callin was stood talking with Ian. They had grown quite close again within the three weeks. Her wide smile turned into a frown.

"If you are upset because of her, leave it. She's just an attention seeker, you have me now." She muttered, putting her arm around my waist.

She was probably more clingy than Kim, and she had to realise that I didn't want a relationship, I had just got out of one. I was leaving for Miami soon anyway.

"Look, Hannah, I am not looking for anything serious..." I said slowly so she could understand everything I said.

A dark smile came across her face. "Neither am I, nothing serious, just some fun."

I nodded my head. "At least you understand. Anyway, I will see you at lunch."

As I turned around, she called me back. Sighing, I turned around to look at her again.

"Just to let you know, I have signed up for the pageant and you're going to be my escort." she grinned.

Right, so I didn't have a say in this. I just nodded my head and started walking to class again. I had History first. Usually, I would sit at the back with Alex but when I entered the class he was sat at the front with Sarah. I hid my disappointment and sat at the back on my own. Sarah looked at me and gave me a sad smile. It was obvious she was only not speaking to me because of Callin. As the teacher started doing the register, the door swung open.

"What do you want?" Mr Lewis questioned.

"Look, I don't want to be here. I got sent out and was told to come here." Callin Constancio mumbled.

"What did you do to get sent out?" he asked.

Callin shrugged. "A girl got me angry... anyway where should I sit?"

Mr Lewis scanned the room and pointed at the chair next to mine. Callin and I made eye contact as she walked towards the desk. Her hair was pulled up in a messy high ponytail, her body was scrawny and sickly pale with massive bags under her eyes. She threw her bag carelessly onto the floor before taking a seat, slouching back in the chair. I tried to speak to her but she immediately cut me off.

"Leave it, Mahone. Let's just face it, you weren't going to care about me for long. I knew you would get bored and make friends with someone else." she hissed.

As if I found Callin Constancio boring. Whenever I was with her, there was always entertainment and drama. I hated to admit it but I liked hanging out with her.

"I do still care about you..." I said, looking her in the eye.

Her eyes widened for a moment, then she dropped eye contact, looking at the ground.

"Prove it then." she snapped.

I stood up, picking up my bag and hers. She looked up at me, confused. I was aware that all eyes were on me in the classroom, frankly I didn't really care.
