I'm walking on dreamy clouds alongside Jack Frost behind my closed eyelids when my ringing phone cuts shreds into the dream

I try to grab for Jack's hand in a final attempt to hold on to my rapidly disappearing dream, but my hand just slips through his. Nice, so now I'm a spirit

My eyes are still closed when I toss frustratedly around my bed before tapping around on my bedside table for my phone

I blink open to the brightness of my phone screen. Jesus, is this you with the bright light? An unknown number flashes for a face time

Okay, how in the world does that make sense. An unknown number, not even texting or calling, VIDEO CALLING?!
Some people do not just understand the logic of life

With all that being thought, I accept the call only to find Jace's face all over my screen

I squint my eyes for two reasons. One, I want to go back to the land of Jack Frost cause nothing makes sense since, Two, I'm now seeing things like, Jace calling me

"Jesus, am I really dead now? First Jack makes me a spirit, now I'm seeing Jace??" I mumble to myself, shutting my eyes for a second

"Wake up, stupid" I hear his voice and my eyes snap open

"Huh, it really is you" I sigh and make to sit up in my bed, with a lot of effort, if I might add

"Daily check-in, are you still alive?" He says and I immediately remember how he ditched me last night and how I'm supposed to be pissed at him. Too lazy for beef right now, I'll save it for later

"Don't I seem like it?" I mutter, rubbing my eyes till they nearly burst out of the other side of my skull "Great friend you are though, you ditch"

"Don't blame me, you said it yourself that we're not friends" he shrugs. I just glare at his annoying-happy-morning face

"So what's the plan for today, bestie?" He smiles cheekily. I connect my phone to a Bluetooth speaker before propelling it on the desk and wall

"Nothing that concerns you. Wait!! How did you even get my number?" I'm standing now with my arms crossed and my eyes glaring at my phone like a sociopath

He gives me a are-you-being-serious-right-now look "You do know that you have no password on your phone and we have literally spent the whole week together, right?"

"Hmm why didn't I think of that?" I say to myself and walk to my closet

"Cause you don't think, like at all"

"Jace!!" I warn him

"I'm not apologizing, you do have a thick skull" he defends

"Which demon purposely sent you to ruin my Saturday?" I make an attempt to arrange my messy hair

"Who in the devil is calling you so early in the morning?!" Muna grumbles with her eyes closed. My eyes widen in shock and I turn to Jace, his face mirrors mine

"Huh? Why are you scared of her when you've not even met her?" I look at him questioningly

"I'm pretty intimidating" Muna's eyes are now open and she's grinning at both me and Jace "Hey boy, come over"

Jace looks unsure of the offer then glances at me for help but I just slide out of his point of view, leaving him alone with Muna. Payback, muahaha

"I'm not quite sure about that. I've got like tons of assignments, researches..."

"Liar!!" I cut him off from my blind spot

"It wasn't a request Jace. You either come or you never see the girl again" she smiles happily to herself

"Yeah, I can live with that" he shrugs and my mouth hangs open enough for all the mosquitoes in your area to fly in

"I'll kill her" Muna further comments, sitting up now to take his challenge. Ladies and gentlemen, my friends

"The blood will be on you not me" he retorts immediately without thinking

"I'll sell her to the black markets of Afghanistan" she smirks

I pop my head into the call "I'm still here guys, don't forget that. You! Get your butt down here!!" I tell the last part to Jace before cutting the call

"That went well" Muna grins, stretching her probably dead muscles from all the sleeping

"Ya think?" I glare at her before picking up my toothbrush and paste, making my way to the toilets

I walk in to a bunch of singing in the bathroom. Like 90% horrible singing, 7% wrong choice of bathroom music and 3% doing it just right. Okay, a bit exaggerated but you get my point

I just hum my way through songs cause no one going to catch me singing. They got me once but there's no going to be a second time

When I get back to my room, Jace is lounging comfortably on my bed which almost makes me question if it's actually truly mine, laughing with Muna

Oh so now they are best friends. I tut at them before their gaze slides to my view. Jace still has the most mesmerising grin on his face as his eyes rake down my body in a small shirt and shorts

Heat rises to my cheeks but I quickly shove the feeling. I snap my fingers in his face and point at my eyes "My eyes are up here"

His smiles doesn't break, neither does he say anything as his eyes meet mine. I smile and roll my eyes, turning to my wardrobe

"Uhh the sexual tension in here" Muna fans her face with her hands "I'll tell you though, this girl is a lost cause with love. She'll die with 10 dogs cause she's a cat hater like that"

"Muna, please can you shut the fuck up" I swab lip balm on my already chapping lips

"Why?" Jace asks

"Cause they are scary with their yellow eyes and..." He cuts off my hater rant

"About love, stupid. No one cares about your cat hatred"

"Oh, that" I say, not feeling very chatty anymore

"Hold up, you...." He never finished that statement because of the series of events to follow

"Munachi Jane Obiora. Is there a boy in your room? Open this door right now!" A loud voice booms from the other side of the door

"Shit! Is it your mum??!" My eyes are popping out of the socket at her

"Sounds like it. What do we do with him?! I've not heard her this mad in a long ass while" she whisper yells as both our eyes fall on a very confused Jace

"Is Autumn in there? She is right!? Autumn, I'm telling your dads" the voice says and my mouth goes dry. That's not even loud enough, the rest of the universe didn't hear you talking about my fathers

"Okay, I'm just going to open the door and avoid any further ruckus" Muna says and walks to the door. I nod at her and keep my fingers crossed behind my back, waiting for her mother, who is a very loud Nigerian at times, to barge in

Next I hear is laughing. Wheezing in fact, similar to Muna's. I look up to find her elder sister, Soma, by the doorway, laughing her ass off

"You think it's funny bah?!" Muna screams before lunging at her and they both fall to the floor

"You should have seen your face" Soma laughs and now Muna is laughing with her. I touch my chest and sigh in utmost relief before remembering her outburst about my parents

She quickly understands my gaze and winks "Don't worry, only you guys could hear my voice"

I release in a deep breath I didn't know I was holding. Thank God! One less thing to explain

I turn to my bed to find Jace staring at me confusedly. Or not. I spoke too soon

Way too soon
