“Hey Ugly” I would have jumped away as he murmurs in my ear if not for the fact that I have been waiting for him to show up
I’d been pacing the driveway because Paris and her mum could show up at any moment because I have never had to officially face any parent like this before, so I’m totally not freaking out!
I bite my lip to hold back the smile on my face. His laugh is small against my skin and when his teeth begin to graze my neck, I elbow him and detach myself
I give him a warning look since we are in public and he raises his hands in surrender but immediately plants a chaste kiss on my lips before backing away with a grin on his face
“Where have you been? You disappeared after you dropped me off which was almost two hours” I groan and fling myself into his embrace, my head resting in the crook of his neck while his arms come around me
“I know, I know. I was getting supplies” he replies simply and turn to get a look at his face in confusion but my next question comes cut off by my phone ringing
“Hi dad, what’s up?” Answering Bruce, I ask
“I’m close to your dorm pumpkin, are you there?” he asks and I roll my eyes, smacking Jace’s fingers out of my curls
“Only you would not think to alert me of a visit earlier” I sigh but laugh at his obvious whines on the other side of the line “I’ll be expecting you. So supplies for what?” I ask after cutting the call, turning my attention back to Jace
“I do remember making you a promise to help redecorate your room after your dad had it changed” he says “So I thought after talking with Paris’ mum, we could head over there and get that done with”
I detach myself from him and cover my mouth with my palms “I totally forgot about that”
“Do you ever remember anything?” he laughs and I slap his arm which he shrugs off “You do remember that you have a meeting with Halsey on Wednesday right?”
I nod my head and hug him again, way longer this time “Thanks for thinking to fulfill that even though you don’t need to”
“I love you Autumn, I think I need to do whatever would make you happy” he comments and I stay silent. I’m not used to hearing him talk about how he’s in love with me and am silently grateful that he hasn’t bothered to make me say it again after the time I confessed to him
“You make me so happy, I’m scared” I say truthfully and quietly, wondering why all this is happening in a parking lot
“What makes you so scared about love or even relationships?” he holds me at arm’s length so that he stares intently at my face
“I hate the idea of being trapped in a room, with a person or in a situation. I think I just like to have basic control over my life and loving you doesn’t allow that” I say and look away
He has a hand under my chin and pulls my face to his, my eyes rhythmically coming to stare into his green ones that are already watching me with a smile
“Well, that isn’t complicated at all” he’s laughing and I punch his shoulder to get away from him
“Sarcastic Sammy is back” I comment and he moves to follow me inside with his face still split in a grin
“That’s me!” he hollers with an arm slung over my shoulders and I smile because I’m grateful he decides to make alight of what’s going on with us
We begin our walk towards my room when I hear my name
“Autumn?”
A woman that looks an awfully lot familiar is standing a far off with Paris.
