The rain hits the car in heavy pitter-patters, rolling down the windows and mixing with new drops, very easily blocking my view from seeing outside

But it's not like I can see much since I'm small and sit very short in the passenger seat beside my mum who struggles to see the road before her despite the dense fog and rain

Maybe we should have just stayed a while like dad had suggested before leaving the school premises but mum said she had stuff to do after picking me from school so we had to leave then

I turn to watch her. She is sitting with her face nearly pressed into the windshield and her hands grip the steering wheel tightly

"Are you cold baby?" She asks me, her eyes meeting mine for a split second and I see her a smile spread across her lips

"No, mummy" I respond and shake my head

"We'll soon be home" she pats my knees and goes back to focusing on the road

The road clears up a bit, I guess because the car begins gliding forward along with other cars

There are car horns blaring everywhere when it happens, when I feel the impact of a car hit ours just behind me

Mum's eyes go wide as she reaches for me. She calls out my name as the car begins to tumble in the air

I don't get a chance to respond as I lurch forward from my seat and my head hits the windshields, jagging glass to my skull

I fall unconscious

I park the car and jump out of the driver seat, nearly forgetting to shut the door behind me

The school is in session. I can hear voices chattering everywhere but with the tears running down my face, my eyes sting and I don't know which way to begin running

I look at my phone to find 10 missed calls from Jace. It must have happened while I was driving

Wow

I drove

And didn't die

My fingers frantically dial Paris' number but there is no answer so I just run into the school

My hands push the double doors and as I'm running down the hallway, my eyes catch a glimpse of a door with a giant 'Principal' written on it

Without thinking, I burst in there and run passed the secretary, directly into the main office. The man behind the desk perks up alerted by the forced and impromptu break into his office

"Where's Paris?" I yell at him. I don't know how this will help the situation but I don't know what else to do

"Excuse me?" He gets up "Who are you?" He asks me and turns to his secretary who has now ran into the room

"Where is Paris? She called me. She was wheezing and sounding almost dead. Where the fuck is Paris?" I shout

"Does she attend this school? I'm sure she is fine and was maybe playing a prank" he says but I shake my head

"A student in your school has been bullying her. I saw the bruises and you're telling me that's a fucking prank. I swear I will sue you" I yell and run out of the office

My voice must have been quite loud because now a few people are in the hallway and looking confused

I shove my phone into the back pocket of my jeans and run down the hall

"Where's Paris?" I yell into the crowd and despite they are all looking at me like a crazy person, I see some respond with a shake of their head

I keep running and yelling till a girl answers me

"I saw her at the sport centre bathroom last" I halt and turn back to her

"Take me there" she nods and begins running, leading the way to the place she mentioned

It doesn't take long before we burst into the toilet and I find Paris on the floor looking like she's lost all consciousness and my heart shatters into a million pieces

I slide down beside her and a new wave of tears fall down my face as I notice cuts and bruises on her pretty face. Even her lip is busted

"Paris?" I sniffle as my hands cradle her face "Paris baby, can you hear me?" I ask but I don't get a response

"Call an ambulance" I yell at the girl behind me who looks scared

I try to find a pulse but I get none and my heart starts beating faster in my own ears. I don't know if I don't catch one cause I'm shaking too much to catch something the light or there just isn't any

"Autumn!" I hear my name and my head whips around

It's Jace and he comes running into the toilet looking extremely frantic

His calculative eyes drink in the situation and he runs to us

"Are you okay?" His hands grab my face and he peers hard into my eyes

I sniffle and nod

"Good" is all he says before he grabs Paris from my arms and carries her, running through the door

I get off the floor and follow behind him as he runs back the way we came

The hallway is filled this time but they make way for us as we come running through

Just before we reach the double doors, I see the Principal again

"Excuse me, who are you people? You can't just leave with her. Are you get family?" He says and I resist the urge to push him out of our way

"Can you move?" I yell at him and he does so Jace passes by him "I'll fucking sue you" I say to the principal as I run out

Jace's car is parked close to mine and he drops Paris in the back. I make an attempt to go to my car so I can drive behind him but he stops me

"No. No. Don't" his eyes look fearful like he can't think what would happen with me driving again and I'm pretty sure I think that too "I'll get it later, let's go"

I nod and get into the back seat with Paris

"Do you know where the nearest hospital is it?" I ask him "I don't even know how to contact her mother" I groan

Her hand grips mine lightly but just enough for me to notice that she's kinda conscious "No hospital"

"Wait what?" I ask

"What did she say?" Jace asks me

"She said she doesn't want to go to a hospital" I tell him "Why?" I ask her but she only grunts in pain and doesn't respond

I close my eyes and sigh deeply. I pull my phone out of my jean and dial the number of my family doctor

"Hey Doc" I sigh into the phone "Please can you come over, there's an a serious emergency" I tell him

"Sure, Autumn" I hear him stand on the other side and thank the seven heavens that he isn't busy "Where?"

"I send you the coordinates. Thanks" I cut the call and send him Jace's house address "He's coming. Let's take her to your house"

"Sure" he says and steps on the accelerator
