The night of the party, I came over early so I could get ready with Ren. I didn't have any dresses, or anything nice for that matter, so she said I could come over and pick something out of her closet. We were about thirty dresses in, and that wasn't even half of what she had."You really like dressing up, don't you?"
She giggled, "Of course! Now, you need to stop being so picky."
I laughed lightly, "Your dresses either have too much color or not enough fabric."
She playfully smacked my arm, "You shush it." After a beat, she gasped in excitement as she yelled, "I'VE GOT IT!"
She went in the very back of her closet and came back with a black dress, probably the only black dress she owned. She smiled as she presented it to me, "How about this?"
I grabbed the hanger to further investigate the dress. I shrugged as I asked, "Mind if I try it on?"
"Go for it!"
I nodded in thanks as I went to her bathroom to change. To my surprise, it was actually really pretty. It was a simple black fitted cocktail dress with a slit up the right leg, long sleeves and a wide scoop neckline. I was wondering why she had such a simplistic dress, then I noticed the off centered small bow detail on the waistband on the left side. She really did love her bows.
After I looked at the dress for a moment, I walked out of her bathroom. She looked up at me and gasped, raising her hand to her mouth.
"Wow, you look amazing!"
I rolled my eyes playfully, "Oh stop."
"No really, it's perfect on you. You seriously look better in that than me, which is hard to do." She giggled lightly as she flipped her now baby pink ended hair.
I smiled, "You sure I can wear this tonight?"
"Don't ask such a silly question! Now, get comfy while I change." She smiled as she picked up the box with her dress and went to the bathroom.
As she was putting her dress on, I took my hair out of it's braid. My hair was naturally pin straight, but when I let the braid loose I had nice black waves down my back.
By the time I was done fiddling with my hair, Ren stepped out of the bathroom in her dress. Though I wasn't a fan of Lolita, the dress was adorable on her. Her new blonde to pink curly hair complimented the look, and her natural smokey eye and pink lipstick was nice on her.
She smiled as she twirled, "Ya like?"
I smiled back, "Very cute."
"Thank you! You look so cute too."
"I wouldn't say I'm 'cute,' but thanks."
She checked the time on her phone and gasped, which was apparently her favorite thing to do. "Oh my, it's almost time for the party!"
She ran over to her vanity and put her navy blue flats on over her lacey mint ruffle socks. I laughed at how frantic she was as I put my combat boots on.
She sighed, "Why didn't you bring another pair of shoes? Those totally ruin the look!"
"These are the only shoes I have, and I can't borrow yours. Your feet are the size of a hobbit's."
She looked at me with dramatic offense, "How dare you?"
I laughed as Ren's door opened, her mother, Sandy, walking in. "Girls, are you ready?"
"Yes mom, have people started coming in?"
"Yes, now hurry and come downstairs. You know how much your father hates it when people are late."
