I woke up with the sun, yawning as I sat up. I looked down at the sleeping Traitor, smiling slightly as I moved the hair out of his face. I stared at him for a while, remembering every detail of his face.

I felt a tear escape my eye, wiping it away quickly. I was saddened, but I had to be strong. I couldn't risk him being in danger, and being around him put him in way too much danger.

I placed a gentle kiss on his cheek, smiling sadly. I finally got up, quietly going over to the desk. I wrote a note on a piece of paper, leaving it for him to read before standing. I turned around and stared at him for one final time, tears welling up in my eyes as I whispered the words I thought I'd never say.

"I love you, too."

With that, I willed myself to transport to my house. I was consumed by the deep purple smoke that surrounded me as I transported. I needed to pack and leave before Traitor woke up and came looking for me.

My heart continued to break every second I was away from him. It hurt so much to leave him, even though I knew I had to. I just hoped he could forgive me.

So much for a happy birthday...

Traitor's POV

I yawned as I woke up. I had expected to find Alex next to me in bed, but her side of the bed was cold. I figured she was with Ren, so I got up and went to her room.

I knocked on the door, hearing her call out, "Come in!"

I opened the door to see Ren fixing her hair at her vanity. She looked at me as I asked, "Hey, is Alex with you?"

She shook her head. "No, I haven't seen her, yet."

I sighed as I closed the door, going downstairs to see if she was in the kitchen. I walked in to see my parents drinking coffee at the island. When I didn't see Alex, I turned to them and asked, "Hey, have you seen Alex? I can't seem to find her."

Mom shook her head slightly. "No, she wasn't down for breakfast. Are you sure she isn't just in the bathroom or something?"

"No, I'll go back upstairs and check."

I ran up the stairs and into her room, feeling my stomach drop when the bathroom door was left open. I was starting to freak out, when I noticed there was a piece of paper on the vanity. I picked it up, reading the note in Alex's handwriting.

Dear Traitor,

I know this may seem hard to understand, and I hope you can forgive me, but I had to leave. I can't risk you or your family's lives. This being that I'm fighting is darker than you could ever imagine, and I won't allow him to take away another person that I love.

Please understand that this is not a rejection, or me saying that I don't care about you, because I do. And Traitor, I realize now that I love you more than I ever thought I could. I never knew what love was until you showed it to me. You may act like a big bad wolf, but you're the kindest and most loving person I have ever known, and I can't imagine you getting hurt because of me.

One day, I hope you'll understand.

With love,

Alex♥

I felt my heart sink as my breathing got heavy. I slumped on the bed as I let the words sink in. I knew she wanted to protect me, but I didn't think she'd go this far.

I needed to go to her house. Maybe she was still there, and I'd be able to catch her before she left. I stood up to leave the room, but I felt a sharp pain in my neck, making me growl. I felt the world around me go black as my body grew heavy, and collapsed to the ground.
