I groaned as I woke up to my alarm, hitting the stop button before reluctantly sitting up. I yawned as I went to the bathroom to do my morning routine, getting ready to start my day at 6 in the morning.I dressed in my usual style of a black T-shirt and black skinny jeans before brushing my waist length straight black hair. I sighed as I left the bathroom, going to put on my everyday black platform combat boots and my black leather jacket. I grabbed my backpack of school supplies, along with the essentials of my keys, phone, headphones, and wallet before locking up my house and leaving.
I plugged in my headphones and listened to Hollywood Undead as I walked to school, which was only about a mile away. I hummed as I walked, getting there in about twenty minutes. This is it, I thought, my first day of public school.
High school, here I come.

I bit my lip anxiously as I left the office, my new schedule and school map in hand, going to find my assigned locker next to my homeroom. It took a bit, since it was on the second floor, but once I found it I put the stuff I didn't need right now in there before locking it up and going to my hr room.
I walked into the room and saw an older man sitting at the big desk at the front of the classroom and walked up to him. He looked up at me with a kind smile and spoke, "Good morning, I'm Mr. Spears, can I get your name?"
"Alex Kathleen," I replied, my thick accent very apparent as I spoke.
"Ah, your our new student from Europe, welcome to the States, Miss Kathleen."
"It's a pleasure to be here, Mr. Spears," I responded politely, the bell ringing right after.
The teacher stood up and said loudly over the other students chatting, "Good morning students. It's nice to see your faces here for your first day of sophomore year at Kingsley High. I'd like to start by welcoming our new transfer student from Romania, Miss Alex Kathleen. We hope our humble little Florida town is nice for you."
I stood there awkwardly, I wasn't prepared to be announced to everyone but I just went with it. After a moment, he told me I could go find a seat, so I grabbed an empty chair in the back where I wasn't easily stared at. Thankfully, homeroom was only twenty minutes for the first day just so we could be told the school rules and dates of upcoming events.
When the bell rang to go to first period, I grabbed my backpack and tried to find the classroom, which was a struggle since I was a directionally challenged teenager. I was paying attention to the map when I accidentally bumped into someone.
Nice one, clutz, I thought as I looked up at the person I ran into, apologizing, "Oh, I'm sorry."
Of course I bumped into a tall, dark and handsome built guy that was about a foot taller than me and looked like he could crush a watermelon with his pinkie. He looked down at me, looking very annoyed as he responded, "Watch where you're going, shorty."
I looked at him confused, replying with a subtle bite back, "Watch your attitude. I apologized, so you don't have to be a dick."
Yeah, very subtle Alex, tourment the big man with a short temper.
Now it was his turn to look confused as he asked, "What did you say?"
"You heard me," I was not about to have an arguement with this person, so I walked away with an eye roll to find my class.
Good job, Kathleen, first day of school and you already made someone mad.
I sighed as I found my class, walking into English 3 Honors, knowing that today was going to be stressful.
