Fifteen minutes before seven in the evening when Franki arrived at the park. There were only few people going for a jog. Most were just seated either on the bench or on the grass enjoying the laid back ambiance of the evening.
She started to look around hoping to see Diana among the crowd subalit bigo siyang makita ito. She then decided to go to their favorite spot and she was lucky enough to find the bench empty as if it was waiting for them to be occupied. Pinili niyang maupo at don na hintayin ang pagdating ni Diana.
The clock landed on a seven o' clock mark but Diana was still nowhere to be found. Bahagya nang nag-alala si Franki as it's very unusual for Diana to be late. Did she forgot about her? She grabbed her phone and decided to drop her a text message.
Where are you? I'm already here at the park.
She decided to stay and wait a little more longer. When she looked at her watch one more time, it says 7:35 P.M. Halos kalahating oras na siyang naghihintay subalit hindi pa din niya nakikita ni anino ni Diana. Sinubukan niyang tawagan ito subalit hindi rin ito sumasagot. She started to feel hopeless. Although naisip niya na baka nakatulog ito dahil sa pagod sa pagmamaneho.
"Franki!", Diana suddenly appeared from the back still gasping for breath.
Franki's eyes lightened up. Agad siyang tumayo at niyakap ito. "Dayanuh!", she exclaimed na kala mo ay tila matagal silang hindi nagkita.
Diana froze for a second bago siya nito niyakap pabalik. Mukhang hindi nito inaasahan ang naging reaksiyon niya.
"Missed me?", biglang tanong nito in a mischievous smile.
Franki crossed her arms and smirked. "Go flatter youself!"
"Where have you been anyway? I thought you're not gonna come na.", bahagya siyang sumimangot na kunwari'y nagtatampo.
"I'm sorry, Franki.", malambing at malumanay ang pagkakasabi nito. "I had a little bit of a situation at home."
Okay, she got her with that voice. Subalit agad ding kumunot ang noo niya nang ma-absorb ang huling sinabi nito. Bahagya siyang kinabahan. Sana naman ay hindi ito tungkol kay Via. What if umuwi na pala ito? Kung saan saan nanaman nakarating ang imagination niya.
"Why? What happened?", she asked curiously. Sobrang lakas ng kabog ng dibdib niya habang naghihintay ng susunod na sasabihin nito.
Hinila siya ni Diana paupo sa bench saka ito nagsalita. "My mom arrived. I had no idea she was coming."
"Oh, I'm sorry. You could've just texted me." Franki felt relieved but she also felt bad at the same time that Diana had to leave her mom just to see her. She noticed the sweat on Diana's forehead. Franki automatically lift her hand para punasan ito saka inayos ang buhok ni Diana.
"Sorry, I had to ran from the parking lot to get here quickly.", apologetic na sabi nito.
"What did you tell your mom?"
"Umm... she's actually waiting for us now.", Diana said casually.
"You're kidding, right?", she looked Diana in the eye to see if she was just joking.
Ngumiti ito but answered her question seriously. "I'm not."
"But why? What did you tell her?", sunud-sunod na tanong niya. She started to panic. Ang bilis naman ng mga pangyayari.
Tumawa si Diana saka siya hinaplos sa likod. "Hey, calm down."
"Tell me you're kidding!", she was still hoping it was just a joke. Para siyang pinagpapawisan ng malapot kahit ang totoo ay napakahangin naman sa labas.
