UNEDITED

The hard rain which had continued from the night into the morning was now coming down in small droplets. Not enough to make you wet after a walk through it, but enough to make your clothes uncomfortably damp. That was the reason I had grabbed an umbrella on my way out of the apartment, pulling my coat tighter around me as it was cold. It was just a 15 minute's walk to school, yet it seemed to take forever in the rain. My shoes were splattered in mud which was right in front of the building, and I grumbled about it as I made my way to school.

Since the weekend was coming up, Leo had pestered me all week about the date he wanted to take Avery out on, without it being a date.

How do I even do that? It would be hard enough to convince Avery, as she didn't seem to like him much. I'd have to ask Leo more about that when I see him.

I was lost in my thoughts and didn't notice that I had gotten off track. This wasn't the usual route I took to school. The sides of the road were covered in lush green grass, and it led the way down towards a river. A bridge could be seen nearby, looking on the flowing river. The path was deserted, with no one in sight, though I could make out some figures in the distance. Wanting to take a closer look, I walked towards the edge and peered down.

What I saw made me stumble and due to the rain I slid down the path, making my jeans wet. Thankfully I hadn't landed on my ass and I had stood up as if I didn't just fall in a few seconds.

I looked up, rubbing my knees where I had hit them, groaning. At least I wasn't bleeding. The figure I saw under the bridge laughed in a familiar way and as the person walked towards me, I could recognize the features.

It was Alan leuwenhook.

Can the ground swallow me now?

My cheeks heated up in embarrassment as the smirk on his face grew.

Why is he always there when I embarrass myself?

I inwardly cursed my luck.

"And you claim you aren't clumsy," he said, stopping infront of me.

"I'm not," I denied. "It was just the rain."

"Sure," he said sarcastically. "What are you doing here anyway?"

"Not stalking you?" The words come out sounding more like a question. Trying to distract him, I continued. "What are you doing here?"

At my question he looked away, as if he hadn't expected to be asked that. Was it my imagination or was that a tinge of pink on his cheeks?

I couldn't believe it. Alan leuwenhook was blushing!

"So?" I pressed, my sour mood forgotten as I teased him.

He glared at me, as if my existence was a hindrance but I didn't falter. I had grown used to it at this point.

Without answering my question, he headed back in the direction he came from, stopping under the bridge. I stood stranded until his glare intensified, which I took as meaning to head over there.

Once I was there, Alan gestured to a cardboard box which was placed there, out of rain, though due to the wind it had gotten a bit wet.

The box seemed to be moving. More specifically, there was something inside it. I took a step closer, hoping that it wasn't a huge dog. Upon reaching the box, I squatted down near it, peering into the box. There was something inside it, and it was very furry.

A wide grin was plastered on my face as I let out a little squeal involuntarily, making my face a shade darker after remembering Alan was right next to me. My worries all dissapear as soon as the little kitten let out a purr, rubbing its head against the palm of my hand. For some reason, I had this strong feeling of nostalgia as if this had happened before.
