UNEDITED

I woke up and groaned.

I had a severe headache which felt like my head was going to split open and fading pain in my joints which made me wince at the slightest movement. Feeling worse, I laid there for a few minutes, taking my time to raise my body and awaken my mind using my phone. There were too many notifications, which I cleared. There were also some missed calls from an unknown number. It was probably Mr. Lin.

When I felt better, I got up and prepared for the disaster that would happen.

Still, it wasn't like Tyler would show up at school. It wasn't like he wanted to see me either.

"I wish you had died last night"

The only possibility left was the will. Knowing dad, he would have left me more than I would want or could use. Tyler wouldn't like that and the reason for him coming here must be none other than telling me off. It didn't matter what dad had decided, he would be against it.

I groaned again, walking out of the door.

All throughout the day, I couldn't focus on lessons. When it was finally time for lunch break, I dragged myself out of the class, willing myself to get through the rest of the day. I still had the volunteer work to get to, including the composing I had been working on. Although it wasn't completed yet, and had been created by a stroke of inspiration, it was coming along pretty well.

Once I walked through the doors, I saw Jane waving at me frantically.

Waving back at her, I made my way there soon with a packet of strawberry milk and a sandwich.

Avery and Leo, were as usual, bickering back and forth. My eyes searched the cafeteria once I sat down.

"He's not here today."

Jane had a smug smile on her face, and it grew wider as my face reddened.

"I wasn't looking for Alan."

"I didn't say it was Alan."

I put my hands on my face and groaned. When I peeked, her smile had widened.

"What are they arguing about now?" I tried to change the subject to save myself from further embarrassment, and gestured at our friends who were in the middle of a heated debate.

"Don't know, don't care."

I glanced at them and nodded. Definitely wouldn't want to get caught in the middle of that.

"I think it was about flowers this time," Jane commented as she took a bite from her lasagna.

"Aww, did he give her flowers?"

"Uh...," she muttered, casting a glare at Leo, "not exactly."

"What did he do?"

"What he does best."

"He pulled a prank?" I said in disbelief. "that would've been such a sweet gesture if he hadn't."

"Aaaand, he still questions why he can't date her."

"It would be so much easier if he was just honest with her."

"I know, right?"

We sighed in disappointment, because knowing Leo, he would just end up pulling another prank.

As soon as we did so, there was a loud crash, and we turned our heads so fast that I was sure we would get a whiplash. Avery's books, which she had kept on the table had fallen off, and on top of what looked like her assignment, coffee had spilled and soaked into the material. She gave Leo  such a glare of utter frustration and pent up anger, that even I was taken back. Leo resembled a deer caught in headlights, as he glanced back and forth between the mess that was made and Avery.
