2|I won't let you get me down

“She is here”

He announced as his companions began to appear within the dark cave. My heart began to break into a thousand pieces. The tiny spark of hope in my heart was on the verge of being extinguished. I didn't know who this man was but I knew one thing that he was assigned to slaughter me, “Miss Carmen, Our little fire trick seems to have worked on you.”

I gulped, taking my steps backward, “Please let me go.” I turned around to run from the opposite side hoping that I might escape. Hope is something that I have left. I can't let it go away. I have to fight my fear away. I have to. Someone grabbed my hand before I could move and slammed me against the rock. My fragile body collided with the hard surface of the cave, I fell and gave a small cry as the result of the pain that was caused.

The man smiled and gazed at me, his eyes traveling up and down my body. I looked away disgusted. “Oh Carmen, You are so beautiful.” he teased. “I feel bad for your husband.” I turned back to glare at him, to which he returned with a burst of laughter.

“What's so hilarious? You fucking bastard!” I yelled getting annoyed. 'Does he finds my state amusing? Is killing the people I love amusing to him?’ I sat up, my head resting on the hard surface.

He didn't reply, instead, pulled out his dagger from the belt and ran his finger over its surface, His eyes pinned to the sword, he muttered, “Don't make me do this the hard way, love. You are going to die anyway, so why not make it worth it for us.”

“Go fuck yourself!” I muttered.

“Oh.” He scoffed, shoving the dagger back to where it was kept. His companions stayed silent, “Okay.” He came forward swiftly and smacked my cheeks with all his force, My head touched the cold surface, my arms ached as I heard them giggle, “You know we have been chasing you continuously for 20 hours, I am exhausted-” I stayed on the ground. From the corner of my eyes, I noticed the man on his knees, “-See you are exhausted.” He placed his filthy hands over my arm, I jerked.

“Don't touch me.”

“Okay. Okay. ” He stood up, “ What I am saying is. When I am exhausted and I have to work. I get angry and when I get angry, I like to torture. ” His voice abruptly comes down like a whisper, “But Carmen,  love. I don't want to hurt a pretty girl like you. You don't have to resist much of a torture.” I glanced up at him, “As I said before, you are going to die anyway, so choose quickly. You know that making a half-demon wait always has fatal consequences.”

“Half-demons don't belong here in this peaceful land and they belong in hell.”

His face was now smeared with anger and hatred, “So you want it the hard way.”

I replied trying hard not to cry. “You said I was going to die anyway so Why shall I be afraid to fight back.”

“You are brave Miss Carmen but I and my friend don't consider stupidity to be bravery.” The evil laughter of the half-demon filled the whole atmosphere. The Man clutched my hair tightly and raised me on my feet. I tried to move his hand away but I couldn't.

I heard some of the men say.
“Aren't humans so stupid?”

The man with his venomous accent spoke making my blood boil. “Miss Carmen, Why So much hesitation?” He glanced down at my wounded arm and smiled, “Oh, I see.” He held my arm with his other hand and dug his fingers in wounds roughly. I screamed so loud that the cave echoed with my pain-filled voice, “So, this is why you look so weak. I bet you haven't ate anything either.”  Tears began to roll down my eyes. I glanced towards the dagger that was tied to his belt.

“Does it hurt, Miss Carmen?”

“Why don't you tell me about it.” I summoned up some courage pulling out the dagger and shoving it into his heart. “Rest in hell!” I yelled letting go of the dagger.  He fell back to the ground.

This was my only chance to escape. It was now or never. The other half-demons began to run after me.  I ran ignoring all the pain. I was not able to run as fast as I could but I couldn't lose hope. If I could go beyond that hill. I will be saved.

I stood in front of the hill taking a deep breath. I didn't have much time, I could hear the sound of the horses. I started taking my steps to climb the hill, placing a hand over the arm. A drop of water landed on my cheeks. I glanced up to see the dark clouds covering the sky.  The weather seemed to have bad blood with me. The water started colliding with my face. It made the situation even worse as the surface of the hill became slippery and sticky.

I stumbled down due to a piece of rock pricked my feet. I groaned and kept trying. Suddenly there was a sound. I gasped, my body shivering with fear, I gave a small cry and looked backward.

The Man Stabbed Me.
