I heard Silver letting out a sigh of relief and saying, "You arrived in the nick of time, Margie Morgan. Thanks for the save."

The girl with pigtails strolled over to an unconscious Darius and ripped the arrow out of his back. "No need to thank me." She set the arrow on the crossbow. "It is my job to protect those who do good."

"Psst. Sis," I said. "How do you know her?"

"Do not worry, Sam. Margie is on our side. I contacted her using one of the school's phones. That was before I intervened between you and Darius."

Margie aimed her crossbow and arrow at Danny. Danny and Dixon jumped and started running in the opposite direction. The arrow shot out from the crossbow and pierced Danny's skin. No, wait. It did not hit his skin. It hit a tree.

The girls, including me, screamed as the arrow bounced off the tree and hit another. It kept bouncing from one tree trunk to another like a pinball until its pointy end pierced the dirt ground.

We were squatting and had our hands covering the tops of our heads. When we could not hear the arrow anymore, we rose and let our arms dangle to our sides. I glared at Margie and took note that her cheeks were as red as a tomato. She was embarrassed that the arrow did what it did.

"My goodness. I am terribly sorry," she apologized. She walked to where her arrow was, picked it up, and jammed it back in her crossbow. "You would not believe that was not the first time that my arrow did that."

Silver walked up to her and held out her hand. "Silver Wolf. A pleasure to meet you."

She took my sister's hand, and they shook. "The pleasure is all mine."

"Uh, do either of you care to explain who the new girl is and why she is here?" Lorraine piped up.

"Sam. Lorraine. Joan. This is Margie. Margie, this is Sam, Lorraine, and Joan. Sam is my older sister, and Lorraine and Joan are Sam's closest friends in the world."

Margie gave us one of her sweet smiles. "It is nice to meet new people in this town."

"I called Margie, asking for her help, and instructed her to meet us in Silver Woods."

"Good thing that you gave me clear instructions, Silver. I had never been in this neck of the woods."

Hearing her say that word - you know which word - made my skin crawl. I wrapped my thumb and fingers around my neck as my eyes laid upon Darius. How could I have been so blind? How could I figure out that my own sister is a werewolf, but remain oblivious that the boy whom I was crushing on was far more than I could have ever imagined?

I hugged myself. Now that I think about it...

"I am in the shower!" I notified the girl over the raging water. "I will be getting out in a few minutes!"

Before I tell you the cliffhanger, I should inform you that I was not naked in the shower. I repeat. I was not naked. It is illegal to be naked in Forlot - long story there - and you have to take a shower or bath with clothes on.

Are we clear? Good.

As I was rinsing the soap out of my hair, I heard the shower curtain being pulled back. I gasped and was about to face the figure - when a hand covered my mouth.

Want to know the worst part? It was not a girl's hand. It was a boy's.
——————————————————————————
Oh...my...gosh. And...he kissed me! He used those same lips to murder humans!

"H-hi," Lorraine stammered, putting a strand of her hair behind her ear. "It is nice to meet you."

"The pleasure is all yours," Danny commented in an attracting voice. His hot breath hit her face.

"Do you not mean 'the pleasure is all mine'? I..."

Her voice trailed off as soon as Danny planted a kiss on her cheek. She sank into the couch and giggled.

Joan placed her palms over the lenses of her glasses as Dixon took a seat next to her. She giggled nervously and curled into a ball.

"I like your glasses," Dixon complimented.

She uncovered her lenses, but remained in a ball. "That is the sweetest thing that anyone has said to me. Besides what Sam and Lorraine said and did to me in the past."

He leaned closer to her. "I like a cute girl with glasses."

She slowly uncurled herself. "I bet that you say that to all the cute girls wearing glasses."

"Nope. Just you."

I laughed at how silly my friends were acting - before Darius kissed me.

I felt my stomach twist into a knot. If I were sick, I would have definitely thrown up right then and there.

"Sam? Sam." Silver had snapped me out of my thoughts. "You feeling okay?"

"Yeah. I am fine," I lied.

"Are you sure? You look pale."

"I told you. I am doing just fine." I quickly changed the subject. "What are we going to do with Darius?"

She rubbed her hands together. "Oh, I know the perfect punishment for him." She scanned the tree lines. "Say, where is Nova?"

"Boo!"

"Ah!" I jumped and spun around. There was the ghost of Nova. I felt my heart beat rapidly. "Just because you are a ghost does not mean that you can scare us to death."

"Sorry," Nova apologized. "It just has been so long since that someone played with me."

"When was the last time that you played?" Joan said.

"When I was alive. Right before my big brother sucked me dry."

"...oh."

Silver started walking deeper into the woods. "Follow me, everyone. And you should come too, Margie. And Nova? Please bring the unconscious vampire. 'Cause we are going to the werewolf hideout. I hope that you will love our king."
