Within the depths of Silver Woods that humans were forbidden to venture in was a fairly small, but deep cave. It was dark blue and connected to something else - I am guessing the woods - but it remained a mystery because the cave stretched on and on.

Silver halted in front of the cave entrance, and the rest of us did the same. She held out a hand to me and slowly uncoiled her thumb and fingers. I glanced at her empty palm, and then at her. Then I took my hand into hers, and we entered the cave as sisters. The others followed.

"Before you and your friends meet the werewolf king, I should tell you a couple things," Silver said. First, the king will be in his wolf form. He is usually a wolf except when he is not doing his duties. He likes to strike fear into the hearts of our enemies."

"After the encounter with some vampires, I do not blame him," I commented.

"The other thing is that the king is not fond of any humans in werewolf territory."

"Does he not like humans?"

"Oh, he loves you humans. He is just afraid that a human or more will give the hideout away to the vampires. Both the werewolves and vampires have the ability to smell humans."

"I hope that he does not mind me and my friends being in the cave."

"He will not. He has a thing for fellow werewolves inviting humans as their guests." She patted the top of my hand. "Just let me do the talking and follow my lead."

We reached the end of the cave, which was huge and had plenty space unlike the outside of it, and saw werewolves scurrying around. Some were in their wolf forms, and others were in their human forms. Only two werewolves stayed where they were. They were two of the king's guards and stood still on either side of the throne. They both were in their wolf forms and wearing nothing but black helmets and black slacks.

The throne was larger than all the werewolves combined. That was because it had to be big enough for the wolf king. The wolf king was, as Silver said, in his wolf form and perched on his throne. His furry arms rested on the arms of the throne.

My younger sister slipped her hand out of mine and saluted to the king. "Hello, Your Majesty."

The wolf king heard her - I was hoping that he would because of the big ears that he had - and leaned forward. The corners of his lips curved upward when he noticed Silver. "Ah. Silver. How great it is to see you again." He looked at me and the others. "Are these people whom you have captured?"

She knew that his question was a joke and giggled. "Gosh, no. Actually, I do have one prisoner who needs to be held for his crimes. Nova?"

Nova floated to the rocky grounds and set Darius on it. "We bring you an evil vampire," the ghost announced. "His name is Darius, and he is charged with murder, deceiving, attempted transforming to a human, and many other accounts."

The king licked his lips. "You have made my day, Silver Wolf. I love when we capture a wicked vampire. I eat them for breakfast."

As if on autopilot, I blurted, "You eat vampires for breakfast?"

He seemed a bit surprised by my outburst and said, "Relax. It was just a joke. I would not eat a vampire even if you paid me."

The two werewolf guards slipped their arms under Darius' and took him away. All eyes were on me, and the wolf king introduced himself.

"I am Xerus, leader of the werewolves. And who might you be?"

"I-I am Sam," I stuttered. Depending on the situation, I hate when I am the center of attention.

"I already know who you are, young lady. You are Sam Wolf. You are Silver's older sister. I know, I know. I am curious about the two humans next to you. They are humans, correct?"

"Oh, yes. Yes," Joan quickly answered. "We are very much human."

I looked at my sister. "Have you been telling the werewolves about me?"

"I have," she admitted. "But they knew you way before I did."

My face twisted in confusion, and Xerus jumped into the conversation. "Silver, I give you permission to tell your older sister the truth. Let us pray that she will not get ticked."

I was even more confused. "Why would you think that I would be ticked, Your...Your Majesty?"

He pushed past my question. "Go ahead, Silver."

Silver took my hands into hers and ordered me to sit on the rocky grounds. I refused, claiming that whatever else she had not yet told me would not have me passing out.

"Are you sure that you do not want to sit?" Xerus asked.

"I have been shocked enough today, thank you very much. No other plot twists can top the earlier ones."

"I beg to differ," Silver commented. "Sam...you are not my sister."

It took me a few seconds to process what my younger sister had said...and I burst out laughing.

She was not expecting that reaction. "Sam?"

"Is that your idea of a joke, sis? I know without a doubt that we are sisters."

"We are sisters, Sam. We are just...not related."

I hesitated. "...look, I know that I am not a werewolf like you, but the two of us are biologically related."

"Sam, listen to me. I am telling you the truth. You are not related to me. You are not related to my parents."

"Your parents? They are my parents too."

"Agreed, but you are only related to the three of us by heart and soul because...you are adopted. Your real parents are dead, and my parents adopted you to save you from the vampires and because you saved my life."
