Before Joan could respond or make a suggestion, I snapped my fingers. I came up with the perfect idea.

"Joan. Caleb," I said their names. "Why do you not run a DNA test? The Forlot hospital offers tests to those who wish to see if they are related to another being."

"Why did I not think of that?" Margie commented. "That is the best and probably the only option that you guys will have to settle for. It worked for me and my cousin. We were clueless that we were cousins until we were tested."

"I had the same thing in mind," Caleb said softly. He smiled at Joan. "You will need to agree. But if you do not want to go through with it, I will not force you."

"Oh, we are doing the testing," Joan replied. "Anything to convince you that we are not related in any way, shape, or form."

"I will walk with you two to the hospital," Cindy offered.

I suddenly felt sick. My stomach was churning. I asked Cindy where the bathroom was, and she quickly explained that it was on the second floor and down the hall. I thanked her and hurried up the stairs. I covered my mouth to keep myself from...you know what...and dashed down to the other end of the hallway.

I made it to the restroom and leaned over the sink. I uncovered my mouth and opened it, waiting for one of the worst feelings to happen. Surprisingly - and thankfully - nothing came shooting out of my mouth. My stomach stopped hurting and returned to normal as well. I sighed happily and turned away from the sink, starting to make my way out of the bathroom and back to the others.

The last things that I did were falling to the floor and blacking out. When I woke up, I was greeted by none other than the vampire king.
