Join Allison Rose Weasley as she goes into her third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This year Allison will learn new things about her history and who her biological parents are. Feelings are changing and Allison would be sent on...
Over the last two and a half weeks, things had finally started feeling normal again. Well, as normal as life at Hogwarts could get.
Ever since Professor Lupin agreed to teach Harry and me how to defend ourselves against Dementors, both of us had seemed lighter somehow. Happier.
And that happiness only grew when Ravenclaw beat Hufflepuff in Quidditch. The second Oliver heard the news, he practically transformed back into a functioning human being.
Gone was the stressed, sleep-deprived captain who muttered strategies under his breath at breakfast. Now he was back to barking orders across the pitch and forcing the team through brutal practices because Gryffindor still had a chance at winning the Cup.
Unfortunately for Hermione and me, Quidditch practice didn't exactly reduce the mountain of homework we already had. Between our ridiculous number of classes and using the Time-Turners daily, we barely had a moment to breathe.
Soon enough, Professor McGonagall began passing around the list for students staying at Hogwarts over Christmas. Like every year, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and I all signed our names immediately.
As the next Hogsmeade weekend approached, Harry had somehow managed to convince me to actually go with Ron and Hermione this time instead of staying behind with him.
Apparently, he refused to let me miss another trip because of him. So here I was. Half asleep at an ungodly hour on a freezing Saturday morning. "Allison, wake up," Hermione said, gently shaking my shoulder. "We need to get ready for Hogsmeade."
I groaned dramatically into my pillow. "Five more minutes." "No." "Yes." "No." I cracked one eye open to find Hermione standing over my bed with her arms crossed. "You promised Harry you'd go." I immediately groaned louder.
Using Harry against me was unfair. "Fine," I muttered, throwing my blankets off dramatically. The cold air instantly hit me. "Merlin, why is Scotland so freezing?"
Hermione laughed softly as I stumbled toward my trunk and grabbed warm clothes for the day before shuffling into the bathroom. Steam quickly filled the room once I turned the shower on.
The hot water felt heavenly against my skin, especially after leaving the warmth of my blankets behind. For a few peaceful minutes, I just stood there letting the heat wake me up properly.
Eventually, I washed my hair and quickly finished getting ready before turning the water off. Wrapping a towel around myself, I grabbed my wand from the counter.
"Calidus." Warm air flowed gently through my damp hair as I dried it with magic. Once it was mostly dry, I changed into a warm cream-coloured sweater, dark jeans, knee-high boots, and my thick winter cloak.
I glanced at myself in the mirror briefly before running a brush through my hair, leaving it down around my shoulders. By the time I stepped back into the dorm room, Hermione was already dressed and packing her bag for the trip.
"You look far more awake now," she commented. "I'm still half asleep," I replied honestly while grabbing my purse and gloves. Hermione snorted. "Well, maybe breakfast will help with that."
"I certainly hope so." I pulled on my coat before smiling at her."Ready?" Hermione nodded, slipping her bag over her shoulder. Together, we left the dormitory and headed downstairs toward the common room, where the boys were already waiting.
