Allison's Point of View.
That evening, the four of us made our way up to the Owlery so Harry and I could send our letters to Sirius. Harry's letter mostly talked about the first task. How he had managed to get past the Horntail and how he was now tied in first place with Krum.
Mine was more about the testing Carlisle and the others had done with me and how my abilities were progressing.
The stone staircase spiralled endlessly upward, chilly wind already drifting down from the open windows above. By the time we reached the top, Pigwidgeon was already darting wildly around the Owlery in excited circles.
Honestly, I didn't know how one owl could contain so much energy. On the way up, Harry had finally filled Ron in properly on everything he had missed during their fight.
He told him about Sirius appearing in the Gryffindor fireplace and everything Sirius had warned us about concerning Karkaroff.
By the time we reached the Owlery, Ron looked deeply offended that he had not pieced it together sooner.
"It fits, doesn't it?" Ron tells us while pacing around the room. "Remember what Malfoy said on the train? He said that his father and Karkaroff were friends. Now we know how they knew each other."
Hermione nodded thoughtfully while leaning against one of the stone pillars. "They were probably running around in masks together at the World Cup," Ron continues darkly before looking at Harry.
"I'll tell you one thing, though," He grins suddenly. "If he was the one to put your name in the Goblet, then he must be feeling really stupid now. You got past your dragon in less than five minutes with only a scratch."
Harry huffed out a laugh. "Yeah, well, tell that to my shoulder." I look at his shoulder that Madam Pomfrey and Carlisle fixed up. "Here, I'll get him," Ron offers as Pig continued swooping around our heads.
Ron jumped upward and somehow managed to snatch Pig clean out of the air. The tiny owl let out a very offended screech while flapping furiously in Ron's grip. "Hold still, you maniac," Ron mutters.
Harry stepped forward with the envelope that contained both our letters. Originally, we had planned on sending two separate ones, but Harry pointed out that Sirius would probably appreciate not having twice the owl traffic tracking him down.
So both letters were tucked into the same envelope. "There," Harry says while tying it carefully to Pig's leg. Ron carried the owl toward one of the open windows.
"There is no way any of the other tasks are going to be as dangerous as the first," Ron says confidently. "How could they be?" Hermione immediately folded her arms.
"Harry still has a long way to go before he finishes the tournament. If this were the first task, I would hate to think what's coming next." That single sentence made my stomach twist again.
Just the thought of the second task made me nervous. "You're a bright ray of sunshine, aren't you?" Ron tells her. "You and Trelawny should get together sometime."
Hermione narrowed her eyes dangerously. "Ron," I cut in before she could hex him, "all Hermione is saying is that Harry shouldn't let his guard down just because he survived the first task."
Ron looked unconvinced, so I continued. "These tasks were designed for seventeen-year-olds. Wizards and witches who have had seven full years of magical education."
I glanced toward Harry. "I'm more than happy the first task is over. Trust me, I am. But that doesn't mean you can just relax now. You still have to figure out the clue for the second task." Harry groaned dramatically. "Thanks, Allison. Very comforting."
