🎁 Blake Christian – Dec. 1, 2014
After discussing – more like debating – with the perky blonde elf, who happened to be named Fae Harper, I walked down to the first floor and toward a place that instantly made me regret my decision of ever agreeing to Fae that being an “elf” for the winter wasn’t too bad. The place was filled with decorated Christmas trees, fake snow, wrapped boxes, lights, the huge sign that hovered above it all, written in red cursive font was “Santa’s Wonderland” but my favorite thing in this whole façade was Santa’s chair, the main event, centered in the middle of it all.
My skimming of the place was cut short due to Fae bringing over the manager, Ted, and sizing me up saying that I would be a good elf. I suddenly regret my short height of 5’ 3” and the fact that I was not a fan of heels in that moment. Ted had asked me a couple questions and had read my résumé before giving me a huge grin. I had gotten the job and though it wasn’t my ideal job, I felt pretty damn good.
Okay, that isn’t the truth because I had only gotten the job because they were in fact, desperate to find elves. The only elves were Fae and some guy named Joe – this only made me more regretful because who the hell, at the age of twenty, would want to work at the mall as a fake being? – Apparently “Santa” will have to deal with three elves.
After receiving the job, I had gone to shove it into Fate’s face – receiving a playful glare and shove before teasing me about the lame job, saying crazy stuff like I’ll help deliver gifts and “oh, oh, maybe you and Santa will fall in love. Damn, Blake, I never pegged you to go for older men, especially married men. Oh my God, that will be so weird! Will that be some weird kink between you two? That’s just – ” I had cut her off there.
“Santa’s Wonderland” was officially open the next day, and I dreaded the next twenty-five days or so that would come with it. The whole concept of paying to take a picture with “Santa” and tell him your Christmas wish was one that never sat well with me. I hated the fact that these kids think that this fake Santa was the real deal, and that they had to pay – well, the parents had to – in order to do those said things. I find malls pretentious because of this… well, there are many other reasons why I think such thing but for now, it’s just because they lie to kids to make profit.
“Go ahead,” I said brightly, my voice probably three octaves higher than my normal voice. I watched at the young boy ran up the small steps that led to “Santa”, a giggle leaving his lips once he’d been picked up and placed onto the lap of ‘the greatest holiday figure ever’. To the left of the ‘great’ chair stood, who I presumed was Joe, he helped the kids up the steps and made sure they didn’t fall and to the right was Fae, helping the kids down the steps and back to their awaiting parents. Unfortunately, I was the one receiving the five dollars from the parents at the entrance.
I had yet to meet my other two coworkers, Joe and Liam – Fae had told me that he (Liam) was a, quote, “totally fine piece of British crumpet”. Of course, from my view at the moment he was nowhere near that with the gray hair and overly exaggerated stomach, but his eyes seemed pretty nice.
In that moment, Liam decided to look up, meeting my eyes for the very first time.

(A/N): Okay, so yay! Liam is here, as the Jolly St. Nicholas – or Santa Claus! And yes, there will be like two or three chapters in Liam’s pov sooner or later. Okay, next chapter the officially meet and kindle this ‘not-so lovely tale’. Anyone else love these characters? I love them, especially Fae when she describes Liam bc I can relate to that on so many levels haha. Hope you enjoyed the second chapter and trust me, it’ll pick up in the next chapter!
SO please vote, fan and comment – it’ll mean a lot to know that you all love your little fluffy gift!
P.S. I love writing this so much x
P.P.S. Fae Harper is played by Bailey De Young off to the side/top
P.P.P.S. yes, both Fae (Bailey) and Blake (Katie) are from Faking It *cough* my favorite show
