Come over. It's important.
I read the text from Cami over twice when I woke up. It seemed urgent, so I quickly changed and walked over to Cami's apartment. I spent almost all day yesterday sleeping from exhaustion, so I suppose today I had to return to the real world.
I buzzed to be let in Cami's apartment and walked upstairs to her door. Before I could even knock, the door flung open and I was snatched inside. "Davina?" I asked in confusion. I then noticed Cami kneeling on the floor, covered in sweat and panting like she was out of breath. "What's going on? What's wrong with her?"
"I'm trying to free her of compulsion," Davina answered. There was another guy here, too. He looked younger, and by the way he was avoiding the sunlight, I knew he was a vampire. He must've been a good one though, because I knew Davina wouldn't just befriend any vampire.
I shook my head, "It can't be that much. I told Nik to stop compelling her."
"Yea, well, surprise. He didn't listen," Davina grumbled. She walked over to Cami and bent down in front of Cami, "I know it hurts. I'm sorry. But this is the only way to free you of all of Klaus's compulsion."
"We've been at this all night. I don't understand what's happening to me. I don't understand any of this," Cami shook her head weakly.
"But you will," Davina promised. "I will unlock every stolen memory, undo every piece of mind control that any vampire has ever done to you. When I am done, you will understand all of it and you will be free. I can stop if you want me to."
"No, don't stop," Cami decided. "I want to remember everything."
Davina nodded and raised her hands again. Cami started to groan as she clutched her head and keeled over, crying out in pain. Davina stopped after a few seconds and knelt in front of Cami, "You should start to feel it, like a weight lifting."
"Yea, and your cheat sheets are about to make a lot more sense," Davina's friend—whose name I learned to be Josh—said and set down the pieces of paper on the ground beside them. As soon as his hand went into the sunlight, he yelped and quickly withdrew his hand back into the shadows.
"I promise as soon as the world stops hunting me, I will find the daylight ring spell," Davina told him guiltily.
He nodded, "I know. Just don't worry about that right now."
Cami picked up one of the papers, "I remember why I wrote this. I found a picture of Klaus and Marcel from 1919. Klaus compelled me to go out with Marcel to spy on him. That's what he said yesterday. Before he told me to forget. I'm remembering." Her eyes fluttered over to me. "Y-you know about all of this?"
"Yes, I'm sorry I couldn't help you," I apologized and went to sit on the other side of her. "I told Klaus to keep you out of this, but he didn't listen. I should've protected you." I felt so bad that Cami had been wrapped up in this, too. She was innocent.
"Let's take you back more," Davina suggested. Cami nodded in agreement, and Davina put her hands on either side of Cami's head as she continued. Cami moaned in discomfort and eventually, two small trails of blood were coming out of her nose.
"It's done," Davina informed her with a smile. Cami smiled, too, and wiped the blood coming out of her nose. She went to go change into fresh clothes, and Davina's eyes landed on me. "Marcel said that Klaus compelled you, too. I can do the same thing for you that I did for Cami."
I nodded, "Do it." Nik may have pretended to be my friend, but if he did all this to Cami, who knows what he compelled me to do and then wiped my memory.
Davina closed her eyes and started murmuring a spell. A pressure started growing inside my head and it got so bad that it felt like it was going to explode. I squeezed my eyes shut and grabbed my head, trying to relieve the pressure. I started seeing all these different memories, all involving Klaus. Finally, the pain subsided and I opened my eyes.
