Elijah and I arrived at the compound the next day to find an entire brunch feast displayed in the dining room. Klaus was sitting at the head of the table, casually sipping on a mimosa. His eyebrows lifted when he heard us walk into the room and he glanced over his shoulder at us with a cheeky smile on his face, "Good morning!"

Elijah ignored him and moved to stand at the other end of the table, a frown on his handsome face. Klaus tilted his head slightly, "Is something the matter, brother? Can I fix you a drink, perhaps?"

"Strangely enough, Niklaus, I'm not in a mimosa mood," Elijah sighed at him.

Klaus shrugged, "Fantastic, more for me and Addie."

He waved at one of the attendants and in a second a mimosa was sitting in front of me. I decided to take a sip, ignoring the confused glance that Elijah sent me and the satisfied smile on Nik's face. One drink wouldn't hurt, and I had a feeling I would need it today.

"Let's discuss, strategy, shall we?" Elijah took his eyes off me and fixed them on his brother. "Just wondering if you actually have one. We can begin with Mikael's ashes. Given that they are the main ingredient in our weapon against Dahlia, would you care to tell me where they disappeared to?"

Klaus set down his drink in frustration, "Elijah, I have compelled the city's finest pastry chef for your own personal edification and yet you ignore my efforts in favor of needless concerns."

"Can we stop talking so loudly?" Rebekah groaned as she walked in the room. Her eyes found the coffee pot on the tray beside the table and she darted towards it, "Give me that."

"What's the matter? New witch body not up to last night's bender?" Klaus teased her.

"So I had a few," she shrugged at him. "It's not everyday you lose your father at the hands of your brother... again."

"Whoever said opportunity only knocks once?" He chuckled at himself and looked at us to join in his excitement. He rolled his eyes at us, "Oh come on. We all fled Mikael's tyranny together for centuries. He almost killed you, too, Addie. I would have thought the mood this morning might be a bit more jubilant."

I stayed quiet and sipped my mimosa as Elijah spoke, "Under the normal circumstances, the annihilation of our father would be rather commendable, Niklaus. Unfortunately, we have a greater threat to contend with." He finished his sentence as he sat beside me.

"You know, for someone who's been invited to a celebratory breakfast, you're proving to be quite the buzz kill," Nik grumbled as he got up and poured himself another mimosa.

"Well, Niklaus, if indeed anything has killed the 'buzz' as you say, perhaps it was because murdering Father alienated the one person who truly knows how to defeat Dahlia," Elijah reminded him.

"If Freya wants to be part of this family, she should be willing to accept us warts and all," he replied as he sat back down and sipped on his drink.

"Elijah's right. Freya loved Mikael. And you've likely ruined everything," Rebekah told him.

"Pity. What ever shall I do?" Klaus sighed dramatically.

"Whatever you please, apparently," Elijah answered in annoyance.

Klaus angrily hit his hand on the table, "Do not mistake my high spirits for lack of clarity. I know full well the threat we face, and I intend to deal with it personally."

The tension in the room was so thick that you could cut it with a knife, and Rebekah and I looked at each other as the brothers squared off. Thankfully, someone walked into the courtyard and the four of us got up to greet them. I figured it would be Hayley or maybe even Freya, but I was surprised to see Josephine waiting for us.
