I was drawn awake by the sound of my phone buzzing on the night stand. The room was mostly dark, the sun beginning to peek in through my bedroom window. I groggily opened my eyes and reached over Elijah's chest to answer it, not even looking at who was calling. "Hello?"

"Addie, it's Hayley," her voice was rushed and was full of worry.

I sat up in a panic, keeping my grip on the covers to hold against my bare skin. "What's wrong?"

"It's Rebekah, or Eva or whatever. She went after Hope," she answered. My stomach dropped at her words, and I felt Elijah stir next to me as he sat up, overhearing our conversation.

"Where is she?" I asked while getting out of bed. Elijah was doing the same, rushing to put on his usual suit and dress shoes as I put on speakerphone so I could get dressed.

"I'm not sure. Marcel's looking for her now," she continued.

"Elijah, take Addie and go pay Josephine a visit. We need her to call off the witch hunt for Eva," Klaus' voice ordered from the other end.

Elijah glanced at me uneasily, still talking to his brother, "Are you sure—"

"The old bat will be fine. Just go," he grumbled, and I heard him leave the room.

"Tell Jackson to get all the wolves there to protect Hope. I'll call as soon as we leave Josephine's," I told Hayley before hanging up. I looked over at Elijah, who was putting on his scarf. "What was that about?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Witches aren't too fond of hybrids. They see them as an abomination," he answered.

"Well, like Klaus said, she'll get over it," I huffed. I hadn't even met this woman and she already hated me. That is why witches were my least favorite supernatural creatures. I zipped up my boots and grabbed a jacket since I knew I'd be gone the whole day as I followed Elijah out the door.

We rode for a little while in silence, just listening to the soft hum of whatever classical station Elijah had found. I recognized where we were going and raised my eyebrows for an explanation as we parked outside of Marcel's warehouse.

"Josephine is quite captivated by Gia's fiddle skills," he explained.

"Gia's coming?" I asked in confusion. I knew Elijah was like a mentor to Gia, but I didn't think he'd involve her in something like this. He must've really liked her.

"You're cute when you're jealous," he smiled at me. "Nothing to worry about, my dear."

Our conversation ended as Gia appeared and climbed into the backseat. She was wearing a nice dark blue dress and looked like she was going to church. I glanced down at my jeans and long sleeve shirt, getting the feeling that I was going to be underdressed. Oh well. Now I could actually give Josephine a real reason to dislike me.

Josephine's house was about a twenty minute drive from Marcel's, and we were immediately greeted by a group of witches at the gate. Elijah politely explained to them why we were here and they led us inside the fancy house as we waited in the living room. I knew Josephine was old by the way this place was decorated. It was just like my grandma's house.

The room was quiet as Gia looked between Elijah and I with her doe eyes. I knew Gia had a crush on him, and I think she knew that I knew so it made for an awkward time. After a few minutes of silence, Gia cleared her throat. "I'm gonna go see if I can find Josephine," she announced before quietly leaving the room.

I looked at Elijah once she was gone. "Did she have to come with us?" I asked.

He tried to hide his smile at my question. "Josephine LaRue can be rather recalcitrant. She is, however, enamored by Gia's musical prowess, cavalier spirit."
