The next day, Elijah was gone before I woke up (as usual). As much as I didn't want to risk seeing Klaus, I decided to go to the compound to look for Elijah there. There was still so much we had to deal with and I hated being left out. I had a feeling they had stayed up all night conspiring about what to do about the prophecy.

As soon as I reached the front doors of the compound, the stench of blood hit my nose. I quickly ran inside, afraid that it was Freya who was hurt. Instead, I found a dead girl I didn't recognize with her arms sliced open laying on a bed of purple flowers. Maybe it was some sick gift from the Strix or Lucien. This seemed like something a psychopath would do.

I noticed a note in her hands and knelt down to pick it up as I read it.

Roses are red, lavender is blue. Come find me before I find you.

I heard voices behind me as Klaus and Elijah walked in. Their eyes widened in confusion when they saw me, then looked down and saw the dead girl.

I put my hands up in defense, "Wasn't me. She was dead when I got here." I stood up and handed the note off to Klaus. "What does this mean?"

Klaus quickly read it, beginning to scowl as he passed it to Elijah. The two exchanged an uneasy glance, having some sort of silent conversation.

I rolled my eyes at them, "Hello? What is going on?"

"I remember her a better poet," Klaus huffed as he took the note back from Elijah and read it over again.

Elijah knelt down and looked closer at the dead girl. "Oh, I wouldn't say that this is lacking in poetry."

"She wants us to find her," Klaus admitted and dropped the note. "So let's."

"Are you so eager, Niklaus?" Elijah asked him before he could leave. "Last time you even said her name was 1,000 years ago, when you told me to never speak it again in your presence."

"So I'm to wait as she leaves her little calling cards all over my home?" Klaus demanded.

"There's something you should know," Elijah confessed. "When Mother seized control of my mind, unleashing those monstrosities that lurk behind the Red Door, I saw something. Aurora was there."

"If you mean to confess a thousand-year-old secret that will divide us after our hard-won reconciliation, then te absolvo, brother. There is nothing you could have done involving her that would be worse than what she did to me," Klaus told him.

Elijah shook his head, "Please do not dismiss this—"

"Whatever it is, it can wait," Klaus interrupted him. "We have a plate of here-and-now problems, and I mean to clear it. If it makes you feel any better, we can kill Aurora together. Then neither of us need play her little mind games ever again."

He winked at me before briskly leaving the room. I crossed my arms as Elijah turned to look at me, "Are you going to explain what the hell just happened?"

"Aurora is Tristan's maniacal sister. Her and Klaus were together before she stabbed him in the back and left without another word. It appears that she has finally returned," Elijah explained with a sigh as he glanced at the dead girl.

"Great, another ancient vampire to worry about," I smiled sarcastically. "Well, you two have fun with that. I promised Cami I'd help her and Vincent figure out their little serial killer problem."

"Be careful," Elijah told me as he kissed my cheek.

"You too," I replied.

We parted ways, Elijah going to find his brother while I went to Rousseau's to get Cami, Vincent, and I some coffee. There was some sort of festival going on today, which wasn't that unusual considering there were always festivals. People had fake blood on them and were carrying around little axes and apparently it was dedicated to some serial killer. The fact that there actually was a serial killer roaming around and killing people made this festival even more ironic.
