The next few days thankfully went by quietly and quickly. Cami seemed to be acting like more herself, even though she was still steering clear of Klaus, probably for good reason. We were all still on edge from the possibility of Aurora lurking out there somewhere and now the Strix were one step closer to breaking the sire lines. As quiet as it was here, I had a feeling that something big was about to happen.
"You daggered Rebekah and you're just telling me now," Freya repeated angrily to Elijah. The three of us were in the study, where Elijah figured it was time to tell his other sister what happened to Rebekah on Christmas. I didn't know exactly what Elijah did, but I had a feeling that something had happened to Rebekah. I know there was no way she'd stay away for this long.
"She sacrificed herself in order to protect us," Elijah explained himself. "And to protect her, I told Niklaus and I'm telling you. No one would've known Rebekah's whereabouts if Aurora had taken my life."
"The prophecy says you three will be felled by friend, family, and foe. Rebekah was fallen by family, that leaves friend and foe," Freya told him. "You and Klaus have a lot of foes."
"Just one or two," Elijah corrected her sarcastically.
"Thankfully, not many friends," Freya smirked.
"Freya, this is Stefan Salvatore, an old friend. One of my trickle-down sirelings. Long story," Klaus announced as he walked into the room with another man behind him. "Stefan, this is Freya, my brand new long lost sister, also a long story. And that one over there is Adelaide, my last hybrid. She's somewhat of a myth among the werewolves." He pointed at me.
I stood up from my seat and walked over to stand in front of them. "You're a doppelganger," I realized as I remembered Tom Avery, the guy whose blood I had to drink to complete my transition. This was really weird. They looked exactly alike. They both had kind eyes.
"Did Klaus tell you he murdered all his past hybrids?" Stefan smiled at me.
"Oh don't worry, he's tried to murder me, too," I assured him and winked at Klaus.
Elijah moved to stand protectively behind me, nodding at Stefan. "Nice to see you again."
Stefan looked behind me at Elijah before nodding. "Oh, now I get why you're still alive."
Freya narrowed her eyes at Stefan. "You're an 'old friend,' are you?"
"Well, that kind of depends on your definition," Stefan shrugged.
"Stefan needs a favor," Klaus cleared his throat. "You three stay here. Elijah, a word?" He motioned for his brother to follow him out.
"What's the favor?" Freya asked him once they had left.
"Some mystical hunter marked me with her sword and now she can track me wherever I go," he explained simply and began to unbutton his shirt. Freya and I exchanged an amused glance as Stefan pulled open his gray shirt and sat down on the couch.
Freya sat on the table in front of him as she looked at the cut on his shoulder. Stefan cleared his throat, breaking the silence, "Full disclosure. I dated your sister once."
"While that seems like a great story, let's get back to your wound," Freya smiled and stood up. "A mystical vampire huntress stabbed you with her magic sword, Klaus killed her, but surprise, surprise—"
"She regenerates," Stefan finished her sentence.
"And won't rest until you're dead," Freya assumed.
"Right. So no matter how far I run, this wound acts as a beacon, drawing her to me," Stefan sighed. "So, I guess you could say it's been a bit of a rough week."
