Flickering Consciousness

WARNING! PAIN! Just pain, blood, and suffering.

---------

Everything hurt. All Xisuma could feel was pain. Movement was happening around him, but his eyelids were heavy and felt glued shut. Was someone carrying him? He felt a slight pressure around his shoulders, carefully away from the burning of the stab wound, and under his knees. The grip around him tightened and his head hung useless as he was lifted from the ground, aching limbs protesting. The pain coursed through him, lighting his veins on fire. A scream built up in his throat. It never left his lips.

"We've got you Xisuma." The words echoed, bouncing around in his head. They sounded distant, but so close at the same time. Was it Ren's? It kind of sounded like him, albeit distorted and rattling his brain.

The pain started to slowly ebb away with X's consciousness. All of his senses dulled to nothingness.

~~~
"You failed them," a voice repeated. Everything felt so hazy and unreal. X opens his eyes to see the cell around him. Joe was no longer there, but the blood remained. Evil X stood there, twirling a blood-soaked dagger. "As they failed to save you."
A growl built up in his throat. "What did you do to them?"
EX pointed the dagger at him. "I stopped them."
"No," X whispered. This could not be happening.
A dull thud echoed against the stone walls. Right there on the ground lay Doc's robotic arm, covered in blood. "He tried the hardest."
Time froze. "Doc?" X whispered.
EX dropped more things on the floor. A red feather, helmet, necklace, glasses, blue orchids, a certain engraved spoon—all things that would never be given freely. Wels, Biffa, Ren, Joe, Python, Mumbo—these things were special to them.
"They came to save you, you know." Evil X kicked Biffa's helmet away. "Didn't get very far."
No. This could not be happening. There is no way they could have failed, but... they would have never given up these things. "How did you-?" X asked.
"How could I have failed? They were all weak," EX crowed, stepping over the pile. "Just like you."
Evil X raised a sword, Doc's sword, above his head and sung it down, aiming at X's neck. His scream never made it to daylight.
~~~

It was clear X was moving now. Each jerk his body took ached his whole body. The flesh on each side of the cuts rubbed painfully against each other, lubricated by blood. Bandages were bound around most of his wounds, but that didn't stop the pain.

A small whimper of pain escaped his lips and for a moment, they stopped. "Xisuma?"

Mumbo? How could that be?

He tried to force his eyes open to see, but they were ignoring him. Every part of his body was ignoring him. He felt trapped and useless, hanging there in someone's arms.

They continued moving and the pain, the fire in his veins coursed through him again. No sound made it past his torn throat this time.

"Hold on X. Were almost there."

Once again, his senses faded way but this time, nothing met him.

Soooo... It's been a while. I swear everything was trying to keep me from writing this. I started out writing a battle scene with Evil X and the gang, but then I decided to write this one instead.  That is when irl disaster struck. I decided that I was going to take a week and just step back, but then I got sick. In that time I gained a new distraction. Roleplaying! I've been roleplaying on the Hermittpad Recap discord as this universe's X, Doc, and a few others, which has really helped me figure out where I want them to go and develop. I will actually posting an edited version of our sessions, if you want to check it out (It's not quite up yet), and you could possibly see what I have in mind next. I will put more details when I upload it. Ahem, distractions aside, a few of you know this but then after I was finally ready to come back-- my computer decided to have issues. It is now fixed, so I should be up loading more frequently. Probably not daily, but it should be weekly.

Thank you guys so much for the patience, it really meant a lot seeing your messages and really helped me find motivation.

I love you all so much and I look forward to continuing this story.
