The Mythical Hunt

Chapter 1. The Night Shift

A young Sammyville police officer named Billy Smith, was on duty for the night until early the next morning. His patrol car was parked next to a wooden area. His job for the night was to look for speeders or drunk drivers going down the road. To him, everything seemed to be fine, so he decides to rest his eyes for only a short time. Not long after, he was awakened after he felt his car mysteriously shake for a moment. He looks out the driver's side window and noticed something unusual. Black fur was pressed against the window almost making it impossible for Smith to see outside. He first thought it was just a black bear that decided to lie down next to his car door. Smith decided to crawl to the passenger seat and cautiously walk to the other side of his car to get a better look at the animal. He goes around to the front of his car and was unaware of what he was about to witness. The animal was much larger than he imagined and it didn't even seem real. The animal was a large black and purple four-legged creature with massively long pointy ears. It must have decided to rest next to the officer's car for a little nap. Smith's nerves became very wreaked after making such a discovery. He had never seen such a magnificent creature. However, he wasn't for sure if it was harmless. He pulls out his taser not taking any chances of what it might do if it decided to wake up. Smith slowly backs away from the beast and accidentally steps on a twig behind him. The creature opens it's eyes and looks directly at officer Smith. Smith became frozen with fear unable to move from where he was standing. The creature sits upright and Smith points his taser at it. The creature then stands on all fours. As it tries to move closer to Smith, he pulls the trigger of his taser to stun the beast. Unfortunately, the shock didn't even phase it. Smith then thought that he had seriously messed up when the voltage wasn't strong enough to bring the monster down. Smith became so afraid that he fell down to his knees thinking that the massive beast became furious and was going to harm him for what he had done to it. But surprisingly, the creature wasn't angry at him at all. It just pulls out the taser probes out of it's leg and looks at Smith with it's large glowing eyes. Smith stands up again and looks back at the monster. Suddenly, a purple lightning bolt flashes across both of it's ears making Smith take a few steps back. Finally, the monster decides to leave the officer alone and goes into the woods where it was pitched black. The poor policeman had no idea what he had just saw. He felt like he had just saw something from the twilight zone. He rushes back into his patrol car as fast as he could and locks the doors. Smith was breathing heavily and his hand were shaking with sweat. "What was that thing?" He thought to himself. He starts his car and flees the scene leaving nothing but dust, smoke, and deep tire tracks.
