The next morning, 17 year old senior high school student Eric Stanley was driving down the road in the rain in his 1990s Camaro. It was still very dark and cloudy outside. He was beginning to have issues with the defroster because it was not helping his windshield clear up after it was covered by the night air. Eric becomes frustrated on getting his windshield cleared. "Come on." He said adjusting the vents. One of the vents becomes stuck and he tries his best to loosen it without breaking it. He didn't realize that his car was slowly moving to the opposite side of the road. He was finally able to move his vents to a good position, but when he puts his eyes on the road again, he finds another driver that was going the other way was about to hit Eric head on. As the other driver furiously honks his horn, Eric quickly maneuvers his car back to his lane. Unfortunately, the wet asphalt of the road made it hard for him to keep his car in control. He then slides his car into a ditch. The other car drives away into the dark honking at Eric with anger. Eric desperately tries to free his car from the ditch, "No!" He said spinning the tires in the grass and mud. He bangs his hands on the steering wheel with frustration. "Great!" He said. "My parents are gonna kill me. Just got my license last week and already got in an accident. All because I wasn't paying attention of course!" He takes his cellphone out of his pocket to call his parents. Then, just when he was about to press the call button, the back end of his car suddenly lifts up in the air and gets dragged back onto the road. With confusion, Eric looks into his rearview mirror. Even though he could hardly see through the back window because of the fog, he still saw what appeared to be two purple glowing eyes. The car was then gently sit back on all four tires. Eric quickly gets out of the car to get a better look behind him. But when he got outside, both of the eyes vanished. He stands for a moment wondering what had happened. Then he soon realized that he was running late for school. So he decided to get back into his car and think about the incident as soon as he made it there. Later after it was becoming daylight, he arrives to the Sammyville Central High school and parks into his assigned parking space. He gets out of his car and looks at the damage of his ride. The entire driver's side was filled with dents, scratches, mud, and grass. "Aw man!" He said to himself. He looks at the clock on his phone. "Screw it!" He said. "I'm late for class!" Eric grabs his school supplies out of his car and runs into the building. Eric tries to sneak in without anyone noticing him being late. But school principal Mr. Carl Maxwell was watching him in his office through the security cameras. As soon as Eric made it into the building, Maxwell walks out of his office and stops Eric from walking any farther. "Eric!" Said Maxwell. Realizing that he had been caught, he turns around and faces Maxwell. Maxwell crosses his arms. "Well this is a first." He said. "I don't recall you ever being tardy. Everything goin alright buddy?" Still a little confused, Eric tries his best to get his story straight. "Well to be honest Mr. Maxwell," he said. "I uh had a little bit of a finder bender this morning." "You did?" Asked Maxwell. "Ya mind tellin me what happened?" Eric clears his throat. "Well you see." Said Eric. "I must have hit a flooded spot in the road and it caused me to lose control. Now I didn't hit nobody. I slid into a ditch." Maxwell's eyes widened with concern. "You didn't get hurt did ya?" He asked. "No sir." Said Eric. "The only thing I hurt was my car." "Was anybody around when this happened?" Asked Maxwell. "No thank God." Said Eric. "It was just me in that area at the time." Suddenly, Maxwell asked him a question Eric didn't expect. "How did you get out?" He asked. Eric hesitates for a moment. "Well, the ditch really wasn't that deep. I was able to drive out of there without much of a problem." Maxwell smiles with relief. "Well at least you or no one else got hurt." He said. "Just a rough mornin huh." Also having a bit of relief, Eric gives him an answer. "Yes sir." He said. "Alright." Said Maxwell. "The best thing for you to do was for you to go to the attendance window and get a late slip and hurry on to class. Okay?" "Yes sir." Said Eric. "And next time you're late for classes," said Maxwell. "don't try to avoid us ya hear?" "Yes sir." Said Eric. "That won't happen again." "Alright." Said Maxwell. "Have a good day." Eric goes to the attendance window still wondering about those eyes he saw behind his car window.
