Chapter 27. Trapped Again

The water had weakened the fusion monster enough, that it separated Phoenix and Haze back into their normal forms. The water had put out enough of Phoenix's fire, he was no longer able to fight. Before he was able to make a run for it, Taren stomps on him, making him unable to escape. The crowd cheered as the Demon and Smoke Monster was both defeated. "We did it." Said Eric. "My golly we did it!" He hugs his sister. "This is so amazing!" Said Casey with excitement. The scientists rushed in to capture Phoenix and take him back to the facility. Ferris walks to him while Phoenix was behind his fireproof cage. "Well." He said with a grin. He pokes him with his cane. "You've lost again." Phoenix gets angry and tries to grab him, but he was too weak to do anymore harm. "Take him away." Ferris continued. The scientists  put Phoenix into a van. Everyone notices Haze getting back up and becomes afraid. Ferris grins and explains to the people about him. "Relax." He said to everyone. "Without Phoenix, this big guy is just as lost as a little kid." Ferris faces the other scientists. "Put him in with a separate van away from Phoenix." He continued. They take him into another van. Taren looks around and notices Crystal seriously hurt on one of the parked cars. "Crystal!" He said. The scientists who put Phoenix away had just came back. "Go check on her." Said Ferris. "Yes doctor." Said one of the scientists. As they were checking on her condition, people in the crowd stood shocked as they heard Taren speak. "Woah!" Said one of the students. "Did the long-eared one just talk?" Ferris and Taren turns to face the crowd. "Sort of." Said Ferris. "He wearing a translator." The student looks directly at Taren. "You saved us all man!" Said the student. "Thank God for ya!" Taren grins and looks at Eric and the others. "These people here are the real heroes of this town." He said. Angela walks to him and hugs him. He puts his large paw around her. Cody and Casey get their phones out and take a picture of Angela and the Lightning Creature. "I've got to get a picture of this." Said Cody. "Me too!" Said Casey. The scientists came back with Crystal who was still hurt from her injuries. "She's gonna be just fine." Said one of the scientists. "She just needs a lot of care." "Put her in a van." Said Ferris. The scientists take Crystal into a van. "That reminds me!" Said Smith. "What about Sheriff Bain? He's hurt bad as well." "I've already called an ambulance for him." Said Maxwell. The ambulance pulls in right away for Sheriff Bain. Taren runs away into the woods. "Taren!" Said Angela. "Where are you going?" Maxwell puts his hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about him." He said. "You'll see him again." Suddenly, a lot of cars pull into the school parking lot and many of the parents of all the students were reunited after hours of the lock-down. Casey and Billy Smith's parents came to them. "Mom! Dad!" Said Casey. She hugs both her parents. "What was all this about Billy?" Asked their Father. "I'll explain later." Said Smith. Cody's grandmother came to see him. She was almost in tears when she saw that he was safe. "Oh Cody!" She said hugging him tightly. "Thank heaven your safe!" Cody gives out a small grin. "Hi Granny." He said. As for Eric and Angela, their parents came and were also happy to see them. They all reunited after a long day of confusion, and disbelief. But the only thing that mattered was that everyone was safe and back at home with their families.
