Chapter 14. Evening Fire Blazes

It is 5pm and it was already dark outside. Bain, Maxwell and a few other officers go to an open field to wait for Taren when it turns midnight. Bain was still concerned about the special scientists that were arriving soon. "Sure hope that this Volkof guy don't bring the military over here." He thought to himself. Maxwell was leading the police into the field, because he had an idea of where Taren could possibly show up when it was time. They all stop next to some trees. "Now what?" Asked Bain. Maxwell gets out of his car and walks to Bain's patrol car. "All we have to do is wait." He said. "Make yourselves comfortable." "So all we have to do is wait until midnight for this thing to come out?" Asked Bain. "That is correct." Said Maxwell. "I sure hope you're right." Said Bain. Meanwhile, the real officer Billy Smith and the teens continue down the muddy wooden path. "I sure hope we find them in time." Said Smith. "There's no telling when that thing is gonna strike my team." Suddenly, Eric finds car lights in the distance. He drives closer to them to get a better look. Then he realizes that they were police officers. "Officer look!" He said. Smith gets a close look at one of the cars. "One of them is Sheriff Bain's!" He said. "Step on it kid!" Eric accelerates his Camaro's speed and heads straight for the policemen. Later one of the policemen notice them coming there way. He gets on the radio to get Bain's attention. "Sheriff." He said. "What is it?" Bain responded back. "Someone is coming this way." Said the officer. When Eric made it to them, he stops his car. The officers rushes to them. "Hold it!" One yelled. "Get out of the car now!" Smith quickly gets out of the Camaro. "Sheriff!" He yells. Bain gets a good look at the real Billy Smith. "That guy with you is an impostor! Smith continued. "He's a monster!" Bain became very confused of what was going on. "What is this?" He asked. Suddenly, a fireball slams in the back of Bain's head knocking him down on the ground. The police officers point their pistols in random directions with confusion. "What was that?" Yelled an officer. Then more fireballs hit every one of their guns out of their hands. They then realized that it came from the hands of the fake Officer Smith. His eyes were glowing in fiery red. The injured Sheriff tries to figure out what the impostor really was. "My god!" He said to himself. "What is that thing?" Suddenly, fire surrounds the body of the impostor and Bain grabs his pistol and points it at the blaze. Then the burning figure walks out of the flames that began burning the grass. He no longer looked like Billy Smith. He became a demon-like monster with flames all over his body. The officers began firing shots at the demon. "It's not stopping it!" Yelled an officer. Suddenly, the demon jumps higher in the air and lands on Maxwell's car, crushing the roof top. The demon's fire ignites the gas tank, causing the car to explode. It later does the same with a couple of the police cars.
