I'm going to do it. I am going to be the bad kid for once. I'm going to go to the field were Kennedy has told me she's practicing, she sent me her location on my phone. I'll live with her for a while until my parents realize that I'm still me. Sensitive and sweet.

-----------------------------------------

I quickly gathered my things and threw them into my backpack, along with my laptop and school work.

Time to get out of this hell hole. I thought as I climbed out of my window. My parents were both inside the house still, so neither of them saw me. I walked quickly and quietly in my flats and pastel dress.

I was alone, and the sun was just starting to set.  I texted Kennedy that I was on the way to see her at practice.

She replied a few minutes later with a thumbs-up emoji.

I smiled at my phone when someone walked up next to me and said, "What are you smiling at ya cutie?"

"Uh, umm..." I swallowed hard, the girl looked like she had been living on the street for a while. Her left eye was a light hazel, but her right eye was a milky white color. Her hair was dyed a bright deep violet color. She was very tall, at least six feet. She smiled at me.

"Would you do me a little favor and sing for me?" She asked.

She was looking for her soulmate and apparently I seemed to be her type.

"I-I'm sorry, but I really need to be going,"

She tisked her tongue against her teeth, "Not without singing for me you won't," The girl seemed desperate.

"Look, I've already found my soulmate and... I actually need to go since I'm supposed to be meeting her..."

"Okay, could I walk you there? I know a half-blind girl like me isn't much protection, but I'd hate to see your picture in the news in the recently missing kids. There are a lot of abductions here. I'm Julia, by the way," She held out her hand for me to shake.

I accepted it, "Ella."

"Nice to meet you, Ella, where are you headed?"

"Softball field?"

Julia laughed, "Okay,"

"Why was that funny?" I asked her.

"Just cuz I used to play there,"

"Oh," I mumbled and we continued in silence for a while.

It had been almost ten minutes when we finally reached the fields. Kennedy was up to bat when we arrived and she hit the ball, it flew up into the air with such force and laned right in front in my pastel pink dress.

Everyone's eyes were on me. I turned to look for Julia but she was gone. I wonder when she left... I felt bad since I hadn't thanked her properly.

"Ella come over her, the team is dying to meet you!" Kennedy shouted from inside the batter's box.

I walked quickly over to where everyone was standing and Kennedy introduced me to the team. I was not really paying much attention, I was mostly thinking about Julia.

"Thanks for introducing me to everyone!" I say in a cheery voice.

Kennedy smiles, and excuses us from the group, "Hey, are you okay?"

"What? Yeah, I'm fine," I smiled.

"I just... you seem... distant..." She looked at me concerned.

"I had a fight with my mom... Is it okay if I stay at your place for a while?" I asked her.

"Of course angel, let me just ask my dad's really quick," She whipped out her phone.

Ring, Ring, Ring, "Oh, hey Pops, is Dad home yet?"

Pause.

"Haha yeah,"

Pause.

"Well, I was wondering if Ella could stay at our house for a few days,"

Pause.

"Um... her parents don't know... That's actually why she needs a place to stay..."

Pause.

"Awesome! Thanks, Pops, you're the best! Love ya... See you soon... Byeeee!"

She hung up the phone.

"They are cool with it. Is there anything else bothering you?"

"We will talk later your team is calling you..." I pointed behind her.
