We said our goodbyes with my dad and Leah as Kennedy lead me away from their motel.

"So, do you wanna go get dinner or just coffee?" Kennedy smiled at me.

"What?" I was taken aback by the question.

"Dinner it is!" Kennedy smiled as she dragged me along with her to a set of restaurants in the downtown area.

"You can pick any place in this area," Kennedy said now walking with me.

"Anywhere?" I ask skeptically.

"Yes, anywhere," She smiled softly.

It seemed like there were a million different options, and I didn't know what I felt like.  If I'm being completely honest I just wanted some chicken nuggets from Mcdonalds, but I didn't want to spoil our first date with that. I must have lingered looking at the Mcdonalds sign for too long because Kennedy started pulling me in that direction.

"Wait, but I haven't picked yet..." I said softly.

"Angel," She smiled, "You want Mcdonalds,"

"Y-yeah..." I sighed admitting it.

"Then let's go," Kennedy pulled me along with her.

I smiled. I loved how easily she could tell what I wanted and needed. We walked into the Mcdonalds and went up to the counter.

"What would you like to eat, love?" I quickly blushed at the nickname.

"Can...Can I have some nuggets?" I quietly asked.

"Of course baby, do you want some fries and a shake?" Kennedy asked me.

"A strawberry shake... No fries..." She smiled and nodded at me.

She then addressed the cashier and said, "Can I have two ten-piece chicken nuggets, with large fries, one strawberry shake, and a Twix McFlurry," She smiled and quickly paid.

"I said I didn't want any fries..." I mumbled softly, but Kennedy still managed to hear it.

"You totally wanted fries, and don't deny it cause I know it's true," Kennedy smirked and looked me dead in the eyes.

I felt my skin heat up, and I didn't think anyone would have this type of effect on me. I knew they were trying to get me worked up and show a response, so I swallowed hard and tried not to give any other type of emotion. I didn't know that someone could get this worked up over fries...

When Kennedy saw me swallow she chuckled and pulled her face away from mine.

"Hey, young ladies," We looked up to see a middle-aged blonde woman. I knew Alex would call her a Karen, and I'm sure that River and Felix would agree with him.

"Yes, ma'am?" Kennedy looked her dead in the eyes and held my hand tightly.

"You gays shouldn't be holding hands or getting that close to each other in public, I don't know what kind of parents you have but I don't want my son to be gay. He shouldn't have to see this disgrace in public," the Karen snarled at us.

"Look, lady, I don't know who-" I put my hand in front of her face to stop her, surprisingly she did stop.

"Miss, may I ask your name?" I asked calmly.

"Uh, I'm Ava..." the Karen quickly answered obviously surprised.

"Okay, Ava, I'm Ella," I calmly answered, "Now, I don't know anything about you Ava, I know you have a son, and I know you are homophobic, but I don't understand why..."
