"Mmkay," I said as Kennedy set me down gently onto her bed.

I slowly drifted off to sleep hearing the pitter-patter of the shower running down the hall.

--------

I woke up with Kennedy near me

This is my favorite. I love waking up near her every day.

I sighed heavily when I realized it was Monday. I didn't care, I just wanted to lay here forever.

"Good morning baby," Kennedy smiled sleepily at me.

"Morning," I hummed.

She kissed my forehead as she checked the time, "Aw, we gotta go to classes today..."

She was disappointed, I was disheartened too.

I sighed, "I'll go shower,"

"Do you have to? Can't we just stay and cuddle for a bit?"

"Darling, you know I would love to, but I need to shower or my skin and hair will be all greasy." I was grossed out by the thought.

Kennedy laughed at me, "Alright, love, go take your shower," We kissed as I left to take my shower.

Not long after we went to school. Nothing overly exciting happened. After class' were over I told Kennedy about the situation with my dad.

"Do you want me to go with you?" She asked after I finished telling her about it.

I did want her to but I didn't want to be a burden or give her involved, this was a family thing.

"Do you want to come?" I looked up at her, I was in flats today, so there was a noticeable difference in our hight.

"I..." She didn't want to, "I want to make it easiest for you,"

"I will be fine by myself, you don't have to go just for me," I smiled.

"Naw I'm going with you now," Kennedy draped her arm over my back.

"What?" I was surprised but happy, "Why?"

"No one should have to go through this kind of stuff by themselves," She lit up and continued, "I could take you on an actual date after if you want!"

"Wait, really?" I smiled at her.

"Of course, gosh, I like romance, what did you think I was just a horny ball of lesbian," I laughed at her joke, even if it wasn't all that funny.

"Do you want to walk straight to your dad's address or stop at my place first?" She asked after we stopped laughing.

"I don't need to stop but if you do then we can," I smiled.

"I do not require anything m'lady, to your fathers!" She said this in a polite old English accent.

I laughed at her playful dorkiness.

We walked the way to my dad's home, it was a motel, nothing fancy, and my dad came out to greet me as soon as we were in sight.

"Ella! I missed you so much, princess!" He picked me up and hugged me.

"Hey, dad," I smiled as he put me back on the ground, "Is Leah here?"

As if on cue, Leah came out of the hotel in jeans and a purple top.

"Hello, Ella! It's been a little while hasn't it?" She hugged me happily.

"Hey Kennedy, sorry about, you know..." My dad rubbed the back of his neck. He doesn't dislike gay people, he only hated them because of my mom.

"No worries," Kennedy smiled, "Water under the bridge."

I'm glad they are getting along now... not surprising since dad is pretty chill.

"Oh, Leah you haven't met Kennedy yet," I grabbed her hand and pulled her over to Leah, "Leah this is Kennedy, she's my soulmate," I smiled, proud to call her my own.

"Aw, you guys are super cute," Leah smiled at us.

"So I know I am not Ella's mom, but I think I speak for both of us when I say I am more of a motherly figure to her, would you agree Ella?" I didn't know what her point was in saying this but I knew it was true.

Ever since I had known about Leah I had wanted her to replace my mom. I know that sounds so terrible, but it is the truth.

I nodded to confirm that she was more of a mother to me than my mom ever would be.

"So if you hurt her Kennedy," She paused thinking of how to end her phrase.

"No need to finish that sentence miss," Kennedy smirked knowing what she had meant, "I wouldn't dream of hurting my angel," Kennedy squeezed my hand.

I was red or at least pink and I knew it.

My dad smiled knowing I was happy with the situation.

"I'm glad you found each other," My dad says sincerely.

"I'm glad you finally found your soulmate dad," I was really happy for him and I knew he was too.

"So, there are only a few complications, you need to choose either living with us or your mom,"

"I want to live with you," I answered my dad almost immediately.

"Okay, and there are going to be a few visitation days at the least, and if the judge rules so then there may be joint custody," Dad read a few notes off of a slip of paper.

"I may also need your help getting her signature on this. It's going to be hard for her to willingly let me leave... I hate to ask this of you-" I cut him off.

"Will being with Leah make you happy?" It was a strange question after all, but if I knew anything it's that soulmates are always going to make you happy no matter what.

"What kind of question..."

"Answer the question dad," I sighed.

"I... Yes, I love her very much, and we are soulmates, she isn't just my soulmate, and I'm not just hers, we are each other's soulmates," He seemed happier than I had seen him in a long time.

"Dad, this is the happiest I have seen you in a really long time, I'm not going to let mom ruin it for you," I smiled at them both. They deserved this, even if they didn't meet as early as most soulmates do, they deserve everything they want and more.

"Thank you, Ella, this is exactly what I needed to hear," He paused for a moment, "No matter what happens, please know that I love you."
