I decided not to let the Hyunseok thing get on my head. And also he was in the US so it won't be a problem. With these thoughts I woke up today.
I also went to the gym. It was good, except that now I couldn't feel my entire lower body and my hands felt as if they were jammed into their places.
I guess I did too much for the first day. My shift started in an hour but I was in no condition to even get up from the couch.
I called Hyejin.
"I-I think I overestimated myself. I cannot stand up right now."
I could hear her sigh over the phone.
"Of course you dummy. You ran at the speed of 12 for two minutes straight. What do you expect?"
I didn't say anything.
"Now go rest. I'll take care of your shift today." She said angrily.
"Thank you so much. You're the best." I sent her flying kisses through the phone.
"Whatever. Bye." She hung up.
I rested my head on the couch. What am I going to do all day? I plan to sleep until evening.
I started scrolling through my Instagram and then I watched three episodes of a new kdrama.
The next thing I knew, it was evening already.
I woke up with my phone on my stomach. I sat up on the couch. I really slept through the afternoon?
The pain was reduced. My legs didn't ache a lot but my arms were still stiff. As I got up my stomach grumbled.
I didn't have lunch. Or breakfast. The last meal I had was last night's pizza. That reminds me. Pizza. I had some left in the fridge. I hurried and stuffed all the three remaining slices.
I cannot remember the last time I had a healthy meal which didn't consist of pizza or cup noodles. I decided to cook a proper meal today.
I settled on a wheat burger and fried sausages, but the problem is that I didn't have either sausages or the ingredients for the wheat burger.
I was rethinking my decision when my stomach roared again. I don't have any other option than walk to the grocery store and get the stuff I need.
I grabbed my wallet and house keys as I headed out of the apartment. Although the walk to the grocery store was only a ten-minute walk it felt like eternity trying to get there with my sore legs.
After finally reaching the store I walked around the aisles, stuffing my cart with all the ingredients that I need. I also added some snacks so that I don't have to come back later.
After I was satisfied with what my cart had, I walked up to the cash counter and paid for my groceries. The cashier handed me a grocery bag, and boy it was heavy. I stuffed too many snacks I guess.
Getting out of the store I was heading home, when I saw a restaurant and had this sudden urge to have soju.
I know it's not at all normal to have the urge to drink soju after grocery shopping, but I walked into the restaurant on my left.
I put my groceries down and settled down on a table by the window. It was getting dark, I needed to hurry up.
I looked at the menu and ordered a dish of spicy hot ramyun. That's right, I don't feel guilty at all. Guess we'll have to postpone the wheat burger and fried sausage meal to tomorrow.
I sat there eating my dinner and taking long sips of soju. It burned through my throat as I gulped it. While I was busy slurping my ramyun, my eyes darted to the corner of the street outside the window where three hooded figures stood.
They were talking about something and one of them kept glancing in all the directions as if making sure that no one was listening to their conversation. He then motioned his hand to the other two to leave. The other men did not look so happy with the other one waving them off, but however they walked away.
The remaining one then crossed the road and headed towards the restaurant I was sitting in. I watched him as he entered through the door.
His face was half covered with the hood of his black jacket. Through the hood I could see black strands of hair falling onto his face. He had a bland expression on. His eyes scanned through the entire place and landed on me.
I immediately averted my eyes and focused on my meal. Out of the corner of my eye I saw him approaching me. He must've caught me staring at him.
He came and stood in front of my table. He didn't say anything but just looked at me. I could see a little hint of a tattoo peaking out of his hood that covered his neck.
He stood there for about ten seconds and then turned around and walked away.
He walked to the counter and talked to one of the waitresses. She pointed at me and mumbled something which looked like an apology.
I was puzzled. What does he want?
After having a little chat with the waitress he walked to another table and settled there. He sent me a glare as I was looking at him.
What have I done to him? I was just enjoying my meal in peace. People nowadays are really weird.
I paid my bill quickly and walked out of the restaurant. My head felt heavy after having soju, but this time I was careful not to have too much that I couldn't walk back home.
I got home finally and dropped the groceries on the kitchen counter. Although all I've done today is sleep, I still felt exhausted.
I looked at the clock and it was 9:00 pm already. I decided to call it a day.
I walked to my bedroom and plopped on my bed. I put my phone away and pulled the covers over my head.
That was weird. The guy at the restaurant. He looked kinda......dangerous.
He looked like them.
Yesterday the Hyunseok thing and today this. Why is everything wrong all of a sudden?
I shuddered at the thought. No Sooyeon, you're over it. Go to sleep.
I closed my eyes trying to relax myself. I was so exhausted that I instantly fell asleep.
But the sleep wasn't so relaxing because the nightmares that came next were something that still made me quiver with fear. Even though it's been four years.
