I gazed and gazed at the two shining stars when I felt warm fabric on top of my shoulders.
I looked up and saw Taehyung as he walked over and settled down on the rock beside mine.
I shrugged the jacket off my shoulders indicating that I was still mad from his rude comment in our room.
He sighed and took the jacket and placed it on his lap.
"Look, I'm sorry." He said looking at me.
"I'm sorry for being an ass back there and talking rude in the car. I had a little migraine and I lashed out on you. Also, I just said that out of anger. You sleeping on the couch. I didn't mean that, I'll sleep on the couch."
My eyes softened as I saw him apologising. He was sincere in his apology as he looked at me with small eyes.
"Put this on. You'll catch a cold."
He put the jacket back on my shoulders. His fingers brushed though my shoulder blades in the process and I felt his warm fingers on my skin. That made me realise that I was really cold.
I hugged the jacket as I put it around myself. I looked at him then.
"It's okay." I replied as I smiled assuringly.
"Also I didn't forget about all you times you helped me. I'm very thankful." I said remembering his words in the car.
"Yeah, I didn't mean that. I told you I had a migraine."
I nodded and got back to tracing patterns on the water surface.
We sat there, looking at the river and sky. I looked to the side of his face as he too gazed at one of the stars.
He was thinking about something. Rather someone.
"Have you lost any of your loved ones?" I asked him quietly.
He looked at me at the sudden question but straightened his back as he proceeded to answer.
"I've lost someone, but they weren't loved ones. My mom left me and dad when I was five. She claimed to have found 'the one' for herself. Clearly my dad wasn't the one. She ran off with some guy who ran a pub in some city far away. After about two months we got the news that she was dead when trying to fight a psycho bitch at the pub. Apparently the bitch had a gun and was drunk so she hit my mom. I haven't missed her ever. I never really grew up with her. Sure, there are times when I think about having a mother that loves you and cares for you like every mother does, but I guess that wasn't in my fate. Why do you ask?"
I'm moved by his honest and intense answer. It took me a minute to reply and he waited patiently.
"I've lost both of my parents in.......an accident. I'm sorry for your mother." I said as I imagined a five year old Taehyung and his dad alone in a house trying to hold together by themselves. My situation isn't the same as his but somehow we both know what's it's like to live without a mother.
He gave me a pitying smile as he looked at me with soft eyes.
As I looked at him those vibes of him being familiar rushed back to my mind. I smiled back at him and he got back to looking at the stars.
I rested my head in my knees and slowly closed my eyes letting the cool air ruffle my hair.
And before I knew it, I was fast asleep, head on my knees, with the river flowing ahead of me and the stars twinkling right above my head.
Taehyung's POV
We sat there for a long time. Neither of us said anything. I wondered what she was thinking about. Although she pretended to be the strong and tough type I knew that she was a little broken inside.
