23. Ice Cold

Jungkook stares at the several bracelets on his nightstand as he gets ready for school. The night before he had called Josh about the number for the drugs he was supposed to get for Max so he was preparing to call later today and was a little nervous to be honest. However seeing the bracelets eased his anxiety a bit. The largest one with the engraved 'V' seemed to intimidate him though.

"Stupid," he mutters as he grabs them and shoves them into the nightstands drawer.

"I'll give them back when he comes back to school."

Without realizing he closes the drawer and the handmade friendship bracelet gets stuck to his sweater.

He steps away and gets to his door and notices it.

*huff*
"It wouldn't hurt. I'll just put it away later." He grabs it and struggles for a second until he secures it around his thin wrist.

He stares at it as he feels goosebumps raise hairs on his arms. He shakes his head and steps out of his room and heads off to school ignoring the empty feeling in his stomach.

"Jimin! Get up! You have school!"

"Oh my god stop SCREAMING!!"

Taehyung yells as he covers his face with a pillow.
It's quiet until he hears his door open.

"I thought this would've been locked."

He recognizes it as Yoongis voice.

"Me too. I don't know why it's not." Taehyung mumbles under the pillow.

He takes it off and looks at a put together Yoongi.

"Where are you going?"

"WE are going to run some errands since you're not going to school."

A groan erupts from V's throat as he recovers his face.

"Hurry and put something on we're also gonna take Jimin to school."

He hears footsteps and his door close signaling he's alone again.

Jungkook had gotten a ride from Jin showing a steady regrowth in their friendship. They arrive at school as the first bell rings signaling 10 minutes before 1st hour.

"Did you check your grades?" Asks Jin as they get out of the car.

Jungkook nods as he grabs his backpack.

"How are they?" Jin asks knowing he's been losing focus in his classes a lot the past few weeks.

Jungkook shrugs, "Okay. I'm gonna walk to the library after school cause my mom wants me to bring a couple classes back up or else they'll send me back to my actual class."

Jin nods, "if you want I can help."

Jungkook gives his a small smile, "it's fine hyung. Not to be rude but I'm better off alone considering you should have graduated already."

"Hey it's not like I'm dumb. I just hate focusing in class but this is my year. We're gonna graduate TOGETHER, alright?"

Jungkook snickers and nods.

Just as they're about to walk towards the school a familiar car pulls up.

"Hey isn't that V's car?"

Jk doesn't respond as he just stares and sees V driving with Jimin in the passengers seat.

"Is that Jimin too?"

They park a ways away from the other boys' cars as Jungkook and Jin just stand in place waiting for the boys to come out.

The passenger side suddenly opens revealing Jimin with his backpack not yet seeing the boys.

"Is V gonna come out?" Jin asks quietly almost to himself. Jungkook looks away to Jin saying almost in a bitter tone,

"Why would be? He's suspended. We need to go inside already."

As he's about to walk away he takes one more glance realizing that Jimin had seen them.

They make eye contact and Jimin waves a little not sure if Jungkook is still upset. Jungkook just nods and looks to Jin again.
"We should go."
Jin nods sadly looking back at Jimin causing to Jk follow then realizing that V had come out as well.

He freezes immediately as if his whole body had gone into sudden shock. He hasn't seen the boy since that day and notices he had almost forgotten little aspects of his face. He looks him over until they make eye contact causing Taehyung to freeze as well.

Taehyungs arms go cold while Jungkook feels as if he could turn into a puddle at any moment. They both stare at each other aware of the empty pits in their stomachs as the other days events replay in their heads.

~Jungkook looks at them,

"V! Yah V!!"

V looks over at him before he can land another punch. They lock eyes and everything freezes. Jungkooks worried, panicked, tear stricken face. Taehyungs bloodied, swollen face. All anger from his face disappears as they look at each other.

It's over as soon as it starts as he's flipped over one last time.~

The memory causes Jungkook to flinch causing to snap out of his trance. He looks at Jin and then back at V. Taehyung hadn't stopped staring until Jungkook looks away again and starts walking away as he grabs Jin's arm and they start to walk off towards the school.

From not being so far away from each other Taehyung couldn't help but notice the familiar bracelet around Jungkooks wrist causing him to sigh.

Jimin stands beside V and mumbles "damn."

Taehyung looks down as he hears from inside the car,
"Even I felt the tension. Was that the kid you fought?" Yoongi had lowered the window and is now peering out.

"Hyung does it look like he could beat V up?"

Yoongi shrugs, "even you could beat him up. I dont know. Who was that then?"

"No one, hurry inside now Jimin."

Jimin nods and he waves to Yoongi.

"Don't forget me at the end of the day or I'll bad mad."

Yoongi waves him off, "yeah yeah go now pretty boy, you dont wanna be late."

Jimin smiles and waves to V.

Once he's almost inside they see some boys start talking to him.

"I didn't know he was popular." Says Yoongi.

V nods as he start getting back in the car.
"Yeah he made a lot of friends."

Yoongi mumbles, "a little too many."

V smiles and looks in the rear mirror, "don't get jealous now hyung."

"Yeah yeah whatever, just drive peasant."

V shakes his head and turns the car back on as they start to head towards town.
