Now that was a real stab at the heart from the back.

After what happened, turned out that for some reason, it didn't work. Instead of getting better, Val's vision got worse. As she said, she couldn't see shadows anymore. All she saw was pitch black.

And if that wasn't enough, her mother blamed it on me, since I'm a mutant, I'm not normal, and the mutagen was taken from my blood, after all. So she thought that Val's vision got worse because of me.

Not to mention that she - since she's the actual boss of the family - decided to go back to Brazil and she even tried to force Val to break up with me.

Val refused, so she had to pay the price. Her parents blocked all ways of contact we could have. Heck, I can't even write her, and look that I've tried a lot since Donnie managed to find her address - I know she can't read, but someone could read for her.

Anyways, they went back to Brazil so Val could attend to a college and start her life without me and the others. They even left Zeus behind, who we had to give to Chief Vincent.

It's been seven years since then and I've never heard of her, not even once. Her parents wouldn't tell me anything, and they even made her stop talking to Jennifer, so none of us had any idea of how Val was.

That really had me worried, not to mention guilty. And I haven't even mentioned Donnie, who was feeling almost as guilty as me. It just didn't make any sense. The mutagen should've worked, so why didn't it?

Anyways, right now I'm on another mission with my brothers to find the Purple Dragons. I've got to tell you, they've gone from bad to worse these last years. Sometimes they make me feel glad that Val moved away so she's not in danger. But still...

(Val...)

I spaced out for a bit as I thought of her and held the necklace I still have. I made sure to keep it after all this time.

Just then...

"Leo! LOOK OUT!!" Raph shouted.

Before I could process what was going on, I heard something coming towards us. I turned around a little bit and could only see a projectile of a bazooka coming towards me.

Then, the roof I was on exploded and I fell.

"LEO!!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!" I shut my eyes tight as I waited for the impact.

But all I felt was the wind hitting my face and someone holding my shell.

"WHAT THE HECK?!?!!?!!!"

When I opened my eyes, I was flying towards a random building pretty far away from the fight scene.

I turned around slightly and I didn't believe in what I saw.

It was a mutant. Another. Mutant!

But I couldn't pay much attention to this new mutant as I heard another explosion coming from the same direction.

"H-Hey! I need to get back there! My brothers are there! They need me!"

Not a second after that, we went back to the scene and the mutant dropped me right by my brothers' side before charging at the thugs.

I didn't even listen to the others, all I could do was stare at the mutant fighting them off.

Me and the others flinched as we saw one of the thugs being brutally thrown into a dumpster. Soon enough the others joined him.

"That must've hurted. A lot." Mikey said.

"I agree." Donnied commented.

After that, the mutant turned to us for a split second and started to leave.

"Wait!" I called for it.

It stopped and turned around.

"Th... Thank you for your help." I said as I bowed.

Then, I felt the wind hit my face, this time softly, as I also saw a big shadow in front of me.

When I looked up a little, I was taken aback from seeing it bowing as well.

Anyways, when we got up, I could analyze the mutant better.

It was a girl with light brown skin, a white sports bra, black pants with lots of pockets in it, a black belt and black boots. She also had black ranges around her fists and a silver necklace, but I couldn't see the pendant.

But what made me really shocked and confused was that she had scars on her arms and abdomen, not to mentions wings, some feathers spread through her body and a mask - more like a helmet - that was like the head of an owl, and her yellow eyes shone through it.

Before any of us could get any chance of asking anything, she just flew away.

"Whoa... Who's that?" Mikey asked.

"I have no idea. What do you think, Donnie?" Raph asked.

"I'm just as lost as you are."

I kept staring at the sky where I've seen her for the last time. Then, I looked down and saw some huge feathers.

I grabbed two of them. They're really pretty. They have brown and beige on them on a sort of striped pattern.

"Does this give you a clue, Donnie?" I asked as I gave him one of the feathers.

After analyzing it for a while, he blinked his eyes as they also went wide.

"It's a Great Horned owl feather. That would explain the design of the mask."

"So now there's another mutant in the city and this one can fly? That's a first." Raph said.

"I wonder if we'll ever get to see her again." Mikey commented.

"Well, if she flies, and since we patrol through the rooftops, I guess we'll meet her again sooner than we think." I said as my eyes turned to the sky once more.

(Just who is she? And why was she so... Familiar?)
