"It... It's you..." I mumbled.

She pulled the knife away and stepped back.

I took a deep breath before turning to the same spot I was looking at before. The person got up, and it wasn't Val.

I let out a sigh before turning to the mutant.

"So... There's another mutant in the city, huh? How did you get mutated? Sacks? Stockman? Someone else?"

Then, she pointed at me, which made me frown. Just then, she started to walk closer to me and kept her index pointing at me.

"Whoa, wait- Hey, what are you doing?"

She picked my necklace, which made me instantly pull her hand away.

"Please, don't. This is very important to me."

Just then, she took off her necklace, held my hand and left it there.

I stared at it and frowned. But I felt even more confused when she trailed her hand on my arm before getting it to my face.

(What the heck is she-- Wait...)

My eyes widened as I stared at hers. Like I noticed before, they're yellow, just like an owl's. But they're so... Familiar at the same time.

"... Wh... Who are you?"

She stepped a bit back. Then she took off the mask and my heart stopped with what I saw.

"V... Val? Valentina?!" I asked.

She let out a laughter. "Took ya long enough, captain."

I was at the least speechless. I never saw this coming. All I could think about was holding her close, and so I did. I hugged her as tight as I could making sure I wouldn't let go, as if she'd disappear in any second.

"I can't believe it. You're here! I mean, Chief Vincent showed me the record of you in the bakery, but I didn't believe it. I mean, I did, but... *Chuckle* You're really here!"

She giggled. Then, she pulled back slightly and cupped my cheek, which I instantly leaned into as my hand overlapped hers.

"I missed you so much." I said.

"I missed you too, Leo. More than I can tell."

I was the one who cupped her cheek and I could feel my heart filling with joy when she leaned into my touch.

"But... How? When did you get here?"

"I graduated from college some months ago, but I only managed to get enough money to come here last week. So I bought the ticket and got here four days ago."

I hugged her again. "I'm so glad you're here."

"Me too."

"And... Your eyes... They're beautiful. Wait, can you see now?" I asked as I pulled back.

"Perfectly."

I smiled super big before lifting her up.

"That's great! You finally got your eyes back."

"Yep. And that's not all." She said as she pulled back.

Then, she turned around and opened her wings.

"What do you think? Pretty crazy, huh?"

"Whoa... Wait. How did this happen? I mean, I remember it didn't work."

"Well, it was just like Donnie said. It took some time for it to work. In fact, it worked a few weeks after I got in Brazil."

"Did it hurt?"
