Chapter. 21

Val was right. Raph got like that because he knew one of the victims. He told me that after two days.

Her name was Jennifer. Jennifer Watson. He saved her from some drunken thugs and they became friends from then on.

As he told me, she was really nice and was dying to meet us. So, I don't know what came over me, I told him to bring her over tomorrow.

And no, not over the lair. Bring her over Val's house. It's her 19th birthday tomorrow, and her parents invited us to celebrate it.

We're so excited. It's going to be the first human birthday party we'd ever been to.

And I'm a pile of nerves. I managed to get Val a birthday gift, and I hope she likes it.

On the next day...

We arrived to Val's house only to see it beautiful. Her parents were great at decorating. They filled the house with yellow flowers, and the whole place smelled delicious. Turned out her parents spent the whole day making her favorite dishes.

It was a normal week day, so we were waiting for her to get home. Also we were waiting for Raph to show up with Jennifer.

Soon enough, he showed up with her. She was shorter than Val, had long curly red - more like... Copper, I think - hair and brownish-green eyes, not mention freckles on her face.

She was wearing black leggings and a black shirt, brown combat boots, and a dark green plaid shirt over the black one.

"Guys, this is Jennifer." Raph said as he motioned to her.

She bowed her head slightly. "It's nice to meet all of you." She had an accent that sounded like she was from the countryside.

"It's nice to meet you too, dudette!" Mikey said as he hugged her.

After greeting everyone, we found out Jennifer knows Val from school. They have History classes together, and Val always nails it.

I chuckled. Then we heard the doorknob turn. We all turn to it and see Zeus getting inside the house before Val does.

My chin drops. She's wearing black shorts, a white tank top, a black jacket and black sneakers.

(She's so... Beautiful...)

I'm out of my trance once she speaks up.

"May I know what is all this food for?"

"Duh, for your party, dudette!"

Her eyes widened. "Wha-- Guys?! Are you really here?"

"Yep. We're all here, Val." I said as I hugged her and kissed her head. "Happy birthday." I whispered.

She laughed. "Thank you." She said as she hugged me back.

She greeted everyone and was surprised to know that the girl Raph was all shell over heels for was one of her classmates.

"Well, now I know I'm not the only one in my school who knows about them." She said as she pointed at us, making us chuckle.

"Alright, everyone. The food's ready. Come on and serve yourselves." Her mother said.

"Oh, Mrs. Lopes, it's really kind of you, and I don't want to sound rude, but I already ate before getting here, so--" Jennifer started, but Val stopped her.

"Jennifer, can I give you an advice about my mom?"

"Y-Yeah..."

"Don't complain. Just get the food before she makes you get it or get it herself and give you a full plate."
