I See Through You

Chapter. 26

"Mom, are you sure we have to go?" I asked.

I barely got home after music class, and my mom tells me that we're traveling to Brazil to spend a whole month there. It's going to be my father's birthday and he wants to spend it with his relatives back in Brazil.

Sure, I'm happy that I'm going to Brazil again. I'm not going to lie, I miss my relatives and friends. But I'm also sad. What am I going to tell Leo?

We've been dating for around seven months by now, and everything is perfect. But then again, life is a box full of surprises and tests. And this trip probably will put our relationship to a test.

"Sweetie, I know you'll miss Leonardo and the others, but it's your father's birthday and your family."

"Will Zeus be able to come with us?"

"I'm afraid that he won't, sweetie. Maybe you can ask Leo if he and his brothers can watch over him."

"*Sigh* Fine... Did you pack my stuff?"

"Yes."

"Then is there something I can do?"

"Despite telling Leonardo about our trip? Get a good night of rest."

"*Sigh* Yes, ma'am."

With that, I head to my room and lay on my bed with Zeus by its feet.

After a while, I hear a knock on my window.

"It's open!" I said.

Soon enough, the window opens, whoever it is gets in with a loud thud, and walks towards me after closing the window.

"Hey, angel. How are you doing?" Leo asked.

I mumble and bury my face on the pillow I've been holding.

"Val?" He asked as he sat on my bed.

Then he started to rub my back. "Hey... What's wrong?"

I stay quiet as I sit up. Then, I extend my hand for him to hold, and when he does, he holds it tightly.

I bit my lower lip before letting out a sigh.

"Leo... I'll have to travel."

Silence.

"... You... You what? Why?"

"It's going to be my father's birthday. And he wants to spend it with his family."

"Isn't he with his family?" He asked. His voice sounded like he was sad and a bit angry, but tried to hide it from me. Like that would work.

Still, I decided not to say anything about it, but answer his question.

"He is, but I'm talking about his other relatives. His brothers, his parents, his cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. He misses them... I... I miss them."

Then, he let out a sigh. "When will you go?"

"Tomorrow."

"And for how long will you be out?"

I bit my lower lip again. "... O-One month..."

After a bit, he hugged me really tight, which almost made me jump back in surprise, but I managed to relax and hug him just as tight.

"Can't you come back sooner?" He asked as he snuggled his head against mine.

"I wish I could, but you know as well as I do that I can't."

He let out a big sigh. "Will Zeus be with you?"

Then I was the one that let out a sigh. "Apparently, no. Don't ask me why, mom didn't tell me."

"Well, probably because of how far you'll go it might not be healthy for him."

I nodded. "Can he stay with you until I'm back?"

"Of course. We'll take good care of him."

"Thanks, Leo."

We stood there, hugging each other for a bit. After that, since he had nothing special to do, we cuddled on my bed.

I have to say I'm loving it. The way it feels safe and warm just because he's holding me close with his strong arms makes my heart flutter.

Not only that, but he's playing softly with my hair. It feels so good. In fact, it's making me sleepy. Good thing I'm already with my PJs.

"Hey, Val?"

"Mm?"

"D... Do you mind if I stay here tonight?"

I smile. "Of course I don't mind. You can stay for as long as you want. But still, I think you should ask my parents."

"Okay. I'll be right back."

After going down and talking to my parents, he came back, but since I was pretty tired, I was almost falling asleep when he entered my room again.

But I still hear him chuckling slightly before he takes off his katanas, shoes and armor as quietly as possible.

Then, I feel the bed shift as he gets on it. That before I feel his arm wrapping around my waist and bringing me closer to him until my back meets his plastron.

"Can I take that as they said yes?" I asked as I smiled.

"*Chuckled* It surprised me too. But I think they understand what I intend to do."

I turned around and leaned my forehead on his plastron.

"And what do you intend to do?"

Then, he kissed me sweetly and tenderly making my heart flutter.

"Not letting you go. At least not for now." He said as he pulled back from the kiss.

I smiled before snuggling onto him.

"I like the sound of that."

He chuckles again before kissing me on my head.

"I'll miss you. I love you so much, Val."

"I'll miss you too. And I love you even more than I can say, Leo."

After that, we fell asleep. And I'll admit. Best sleep I've had in a while.
