I See Through You

Chapter. 18

It's been a whole month Leo gave me Zeus, and we're getting along pretty well. German Sherperds really are guard dogs.

One night I was getting home a bit later than usual and Leo was on patrol on the other side of the city.

Then, two men tried to assault me, but Zeus made them run away screaming.

Ever since that, my parents' worry got a bit smaller, but Leo's didn't.

Anyways, he told me to go to the lair tonight. He said he wanted to ask me something and his brothers and father had to see the answer.

I still didn't get what he meant by that, but I'm going either way. Zeus with me, of course. Also, I did something earlier I bet I'll surprise the others.

Still, I'm heading for the lair with Zeus guiding the way. He's been to the lair six times already, so he knows the way. I always need help to get down with him, so thank God lately dad has been able to help me, like today. 

When I get there, I call out for the others.

"Leo! Guys! Val here!" I shouted, my voice echoing through the lair.

I frown. It's quiet. Too quiet.

"Guys, this isn't funny!" I said.

I heard movements from above me.

"*Sigh* Fine. If that's how you want to play, so be it. Zeus, pipe."

As I said, Zeus led me to the closest pipe. After knowing exactly where it was, I close my eyes and hit my cane on it.

I hear the sound echoing. Soon enough I located all the four turtles.

"You guys should know the majority of the pipes are connected. If you hung on the walls, then I wouldn't be able to see you." I said.

Just then, I heard someone landing behind me. But I don't turn around.

"What's the matter? Did I scare ya?" I hear Raph speak as he walked up to me.

He's exactly behind me.

With a smooth turn, I swing my cane and stopped it when I heard a gasp.

I get my cane back to its normal place and properly turn around.

"What's the matter? Did I scare ya?" I asked as I smirked.

Then, I hear Mikey laughing after I heard three more landings.

"D-Dude! You should have seen your face! It was p-priceless! Hahaha!" He said.

"How close was I?" I asked.

"From hitting his face?" I hear Leo's voice as he walked up to me.

Then, I see a soft shadow right in front of me. I blow it after frowning, and from the noise I could tell whatever it was, it was pretty close to my face.

My eyebrows rose. "Whoa. That close?"

"Yeah."

I chuckled. "Sorry, Raph."

"No problem..." I heard him saying. He sounded angry and surprised. After he softened around me, it's funny to tease him a bit.

"Hey, Zeus! How are you doing, boy?" Mikey says. I bet he's petting Zeus, he loves doing it. And Zeus seems to like that too.

"So, what did you want to ask me anyways?" I asked Leo.

"I talked with Master Splinter, and... We want to offer you a deal."

I raised an eyebrow. "A deal? What deal?"

"I convinced Leonardo to let you train with me, Valentina." I hear Master Splinter say.

My eyes widen. "You what?"

"Yeah. We just wanted to see if you had any reflexes at all." Leo said.

"And that's why you asked Raph to try to scare me?"

"Actually, yes. My apologies for that." Splinter said.

I smiled. "It's okay. But, did you tell my parents?"

"I talked with them this afternoon. They agreed on it as long as you didn't go back home too hurt."

My smile got even bigger.

"But... Why the sudden idea?"

"After you were kidnapped and that other night that you were almost assaulted, I think it's the best if you learn how to stand up for yourself, and Leonardo agrees with me."

"And... Can a blind person fight?" I asked.

"Why, yes. Didn't you just almost hit Raphael's head with your cane?" 

I stopped and thought about it. I smiled. After all, I was about to tell them what happened today, but now, it can wait.

"So, what do you say, Valentina? Will you accept this challenge of learning how to defend yourself even though you are blind?"

My smile got bigger. I nodded. "I'll do it."

"Great. However, since your wounds are still healing, we will wait for another month for your training actually begin."

I bowed. "Thank you, Master Splinter."

"You are welcome. Now, if you'll excuse me."

I smiled. "Leo, where are you?" I asked.

"*Chuckle* Right here." He said as he held my hand.

I took that chance and threw my arms around his neck. After hugging so much, I got used to his height.

"Thank you." I said as I hugged him tighter.

"You're welcome." He said as he hugged me just as tight.

God, I love this turtle.
