chapter three: a weird platonic date with tea

Evan Morberg was quite a confident person as he was the team captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team which really boosted his ego but beneath all that, he was quite a fragile person. "What if she doesn't like me?" Matilda shook her head as she sat on the armchair opposite him, helping him cope with his nervous breakdown. The cause of it? Gabrielle Rosenberg. A Slytherin girl who was a friend of the groups and a girl who had stolen the heart of the Hufflepuff boy.

"Don't be ridiculous, Evan. I can just tell that she likes you." Evan sighed as Matilda reassured him. He knew his words were fueled by fear and he had nothing to worry about but that didn't help to ease his nerves which were very much in full swing.

"But she's in Slytherin and I'm in Hufflepuff. Not one couple I know is from different houses." Matilda got out of her armchair, crouching in front of him and holding his trembling hands causing Evan to focus on his best friend.

"Don't be a tosser. Just because no one we know has done it, doesn't mean you shouldn't do it." Evan's leg tapped frantically before he stood up, his hand going in the air and pointing at the sky, speaking directly to the heavens and to Merlin himself.

"Let's do this!" Matilda followed him out of the common room as he marched to the courtyard before Matilda noticed the light green scarf wrapped around his neck.

"Aww, you're wearing the scarf I knitted for you." Other students snickered as they overhead her comment but Evan simply ignored them. Evan would say that the scarf Matilda had knitted for him was one of his most prized possession as she had given it to him because she noticed that he didn't have a green scarf and green was apparently his color in her opinion. She also put his initials at the bottom in yellow, making it only his and no one else's.

"It is September and the weather is starting to get a bit chilly and-wait now is not the time, Matilda! I've got to focus on my date." Matilda smiled and put her hands up behind her in defense before they arrived at the courtyard where Gabrielle sat with her friends, waving at the pair as she saw them before excusing herself from her group to come to say hi to them.

"Matilda! Evan! What a pleasure, I haven't seen you since the start of summer. Thanks for writing to me, Evan. It was nice having a pen pal." Matilda was unsure if a man could've blushed more than Evan had at that moment as he found himself at a loss for words. Oh, he was absolutely whipped. Matilda was quick to notice and quickly stepped forward, pulling Evan with her.

"Yeah, it's nice to see you too, Gabi! Actually, I believe Evan had a question for you." The blush on his cheeks got slightly pinker before he cleared his throat and looked at the girl who bit her lip as she looked up at him, moving her untamed black hair as it blew in her face.
