chapter fourteen: the reincarnation of the hufflepuff dream team
Louisa wanted to say that she didn't spend the evening of November 3rd moping in her dorm room and ignoring the giggles she heard as Matilda stumbled in at one in the morning. But that would be a lie. The girl thought that maybe Sirius wouldn't have been angry to see her but the anxiety clawing deeper into her chest prevented her from doing anything. She sat a few days later in the library, her mind drifting off to other thoughts as she sat next to Ruby who spoke to her before noticing the girl had stopped showing interest.
"Louisa. Are you even listening?" Louisa nodded and Ruby raised her eyebrow causing Louisa to bit her lip and turn her body toward the girl. Louisa had to talk to someone about her friends and although Ruby was not the best listener, she would vent to anyone and hoped it wouldn't go too badly.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about my friends and how much I miss them. I don't know what I should do." Louisa had told Ruby all about the situation and the Ravenclaw seemed to be pleased that she had been chosen instead.
"Merlin's beard. Just forget about them. They were rude, selfish, and they don't know you as I do." Louisa frowned, not liking the way that Ruby was talking about her friends. They hadn't been selfish, they were just trying to protect her and help her because they thought that she wasn't happy.
But neither of them had ever been in a relationship before. They didn't understand that love is hard and sometimes you have to make it work and fight for it. Louisa couldn't help but feel her heart drop as she looked over at the bookshelf opposite them to see Lily Evans giggling with Patrick Mahoney as she held his hand. He wrapped his arms around her and planted a kiss on her lips which the girl smiled into and placed her hand on his cheek.
"Miss Evans. Mr. Mahoney. May I remind you that this isn't a 'hookup spot', this is a library. I would expect better from the head girl." Madam Pince glared at the two as they jumped away from each other before apologizing to her and giggling once again as they walked off together, their hands perfectly fitting within one another. Louisa frowned slightly and looked back at Ruby before an idea came into her mind, pressing a kiss to Ruby's cheek.
Ruby shrugged her off and grumbled about Louisa being a distraction causing a pang of hurt to hit her chest. Ruby hadn't even been that open about their relationship, in fact, Louisa didn't even think that her friends in Ravenclaw knew about their little studies in the library. She never held her hand, kissed her in the bookshelves, or called her pet names. Louisa had come to the library to study for Care of Magical Creatures but she had found out something much more important than the stupid homework that she had laid out in front of her.
Louisa wanted what Lily and Patrick had. She wanted stolen kisses, romantic gestures, loving gazes, and some to call her 'love', 'baby' or 'darling'. Louisa wanted someone to do cheesy things with her, cuddle at night with and forget about the world with. And she didn't know if Ruby wanted that
