chapter thirteen: a very sirius birthday

For someone with a name that sounded like serious, Sirius Black was quite the opposite. And on this day, November 3rd, the boy was becoming the first man among his friends. For his eighteenth birthday, Sirius had adopted the muggle phrase, go big or go home. He had told all the Gryffindor seventh years that there would be a party in the Room of Hidden Things, except he hadn't personally invited his favorite Hufflepuffs.

Sirius strolled up to Louisa who sat in the clocktower courtyard, looking extremely annoyed as he appeared in front of her. Louisa and Matilda hadn't spoken since their argument which had just been over a week ago, the two having spent All Hallows Eve talking through Evan. Louisa eventually got fed up and sat near Ruby but she couldn't help but feel Matilda's eyes on her the entire time.

She felt anger as she looked at Sirius, knowing that he was the cause of the conflict in her life right now. She continued to glare at Sirius as he awkwardly continued walking up to her, scratching the back of his head with a smile on his face.

"Hello, hello. How are we doing on this fine day?" She shut the book in her hands loudly and tucked into underneath her arm.

"I'd be better if you would leave." Sirius gasped and held his hand over his heart.

"Miss Franklin, that hurt. What did I do to deserve this treatment?" Louisa gave him a sickly sweet smile and stood up, throwing the book down where she sat before.

"Where should I start? For one, you meddled in my business, two, I confided in you, and three, you went off and told my best friend about and now we're not talking. That sounds like enough." Sirius had not been up to date on the whole Ruby Wallows situation, a pot that seemed better left unstirred now that she was yelling at him.

"I was just trying to help. It seemed a bit of an unhealthy thing." Louisa stood up and dragged the boy to an empty nook, pointing her finger up at him.

"Who are any of you to tell me what my relationship is or isn't? If I remember correctly, you're only capable of a good fuck. You had no right." Sirius was taken aback by her words, the hurtful words stinging him before he shook his head.

"You're being a real brat. All we're trying to do is help you, but alright. Let's see where staying with Ruby Wallows will get you." Sirius, rightfully pissed off and hurt, shoved past her, their shoulders knocking as the girl felt guilt creep into her stomach. Sirius stormed off before composing himself, remembering that it was his birthday and he still had to invite one more person. He didn't need to think about the girl he had consoled in the library, it was his day.

Matilda Allens sat inside the great hall, her head in a book as Evan lectured her on why she should give Louisa a break. She knew that she probably should just get over it but she knew that Louisa was making a bad decision by isolating herself and staying with Ruby.
